Carboplatin reaction

I had six months of chemotherapy before surgery end of January consisting of first one Carboplatin and Taxol, second should have been the same but I had a fast reaction to Taxol so treatment was stopped. Then had five more three weekly Carboplatin alone with no adverse reactions and virtually no side effects. Scheduled two more after surgery but started to get symptoms of reaction to the Carboplatin about halfway through the one hour treatment so was stopped.  My oncologist says it is unusual to have a reaction so far into a session and has arranged for me to have the next one on the hospital ward instead of in the day centre - however it is planned to be exactly the same dose over the same period of time (around one hour) to see if I reject it again. I wasn't too worried when he suggested it but now it is near I am getting nervous.I have been so well on Carboplatin and I hoped to continue and not have to try anything else so soon. Anyone had any similar treatment?

Hi  I too had a reaction to carbopolatin but when I had it for a second time, first recurrance, my oncolgist had me hospitalised for the next dose and a treatment of (I think) antihistamine.   This worked well and I was able to continue with the treatments and had an 18 month remission.   I did ask about trying it again as but she decided on etoposide keeping this in reserve.
Hope all goes well with you - be positive and hopefully you will be as lucky as I was.
God Bless

Thankyou for your answer and good wishes - I hope it works as I have been so well on Carboplatin and I don't want to move on to something else at this stage so fingers crossed :)
