Chemo - Your opinions

Hi

This is my first time asking a question! I went in to have a fibroid removed and the surgeons discovered cancer - did a complete hysterectomy, removed part of my rectum (a stage 1 endometrial cancer was on the outside) and gave me a temporary colostomy, removed my omentum and my appendix. All said and done, I had stage 2 ovarian cancer (in one ovary) and stage 1 endo (yes, I had two principles, the cancer had started in two places). But the good news... clean CT Scans after surgery (before chemo) and CA125 scores prior to chemo starting of 21, and 11 after my first treatment. So basically, the doctor thinks they got it all. Hallelujah.

My question - do I need to continue chemo? I'm on treatment 2 of 6 courses of taxol and carbo. I mean, my tests show me in remission, so why continue unless something shows up? Am I naive? I realize the reoccurence rate could be higher, but there is nowhere left for it to recur, and I'd like to get this blasted colostomy reversed.

Just remember that there are cells too small to be seen in a scan or measured by a blood test...so contiue with the chemo to make sure you kick some cancer you know what. Congrats and I really hope you stay cancer free for the rest of your long life. Your hair will grow back quickly after they stop the chemo.  Hang in there. Julie

Celia is absolutely correct!  Don't you dare take a chance with your future.  I realize this isn't fun but it is necessary.  So far you are one of the lucky ones.......don't blow it.
There are so many who would change places with you......so many of us have lost so many to this disease.........
You take care of yourself and do what you need to do to guarantee a long and healthy life.
Peace.

My opinion is the same; finish all 6 sessions.  I know it's hell being on chemo, but small microscopic cells can still lurk.  Fighting cancer is first priority, then, you can concentrate on a colostomy reversal.

I wish you well and hope that after your first round of chemo (all 6 sessions), you enjoy a lasting remission.

My best, Angie
