Complex Cyst

Hello all. I have been reading your comments for several days now and have learned a lot about my current condition. I have a 5.9cm cyst on my left ovary. It was found during a routine annual exam, however I knew I had it prior due to pain. Cysts are not new to me. I have had 2 removed (one dermoid and one regular) in the past and one monitored and it dissolved on its own. Put on BC to keep them from returning, but this obviously did not work.  The current one seems different. The ultrasound results state that it is partially fluid and partially solid. It said something about a possible hemorrhagatic or other mass could not be ruled out. The first response from the doctor was lets remove it and probably the ovary. But I didn't want to go under until we did the wait and see.  But now I am really worried because I have done some internet research (I know probably not a good idea) and I am concerned about the solid parts.  Would this cyst be classified as a complex cyst and how concerned should I be about cancer?  I am in off and on pain.  Sometimes I think it is gone and then I am hit with some pain. I have an appointment already scheduled for next Wednesday to have a second US to see if it has dessolved.  If not then I am going to approve the surgery and really would like the ovary removed since I have had reoccuring cysts on the same ovary.

COMPLEX Hemorrhagic Cyst....I REALIZED something...THANKS SO much for your take on term Complex cyst being an "umbrella" term. I'm thinking of it in my case more like a euphemism designed to avoid alarming the patient, at all costs. SO effective was it that I (having had a million cysts in the past decade or two..or the SAME one...I can't tell), anyway, when I heard the doctor say complex cyst in early March, I was so happy it wasn't a tumor that I danced on back to work, in agony, (and of course an elastic waist skirt to accomodate my HUGE belly)....but nonetheless relieved not to have a dreaded "tumor". For heaven's sake. SO successful were they in not alarming me that I endured pain kept putting this on a back burner for 12 more weeks! NOW it's a problem. THANKS for the clarity. Language is such a powerful and amazing thing. Until Later, Suz

You said you had a dermoid cyst removed, that is a complex cyst.

Complex cyst is an umbrella term for anything that is not totally fluid filled - functional! so dont panic - but dont wait either.
