Complex cyst ruptured??

I was wondering if, perhaps, my complex cyst has ruptured? I know that they can resolve on their own, but can a complex, septated cyst rupture?

I have had off and on pain on my right ovary (the one with the cyst) as well as occasional pain midline (uterus?) and L. ovary. Some days it just twinges now and then, other days it goes through longer spells of steady pain. Last Wednesday, one week ago, I had VERY intense pain. If it had gone on for several hours or been a little higher in intensity, I would have been in the ER! But the pain backed off and has been getting less each day. Is it possible that the cyst ruptured? What is the liklihood of a rupture?

I have my 6 week followup TVUS June 19. I am anxious to see what's going on!

Hi there, I had the same thing happen to me just recently, 2 days ago I started to ovulate (11th day. I woke up in the morning was perfectly fine for a few hours, went to my son's last day of school chapel program feeling fine came home and BAM that was it, I was on the floor in a fetal position rocking with a heating pad on and trying to swallow 3 advil at the same time. The pain was so intense I wasen't sure if it had something to do with my stomach or my cyst's? So I waited it out took more advil and a Zanex laid in bed with my heating pad and finally fell asleep after 2-3 hours of pain. Woke up to being very hungary and sore on my right ovary side to mid-uterus.For the rest of the day and night every step I took caused pain in my abdomen. My husband said I looked like Ozzy Osbourn because all I could do was shuffle my feet along,and when I sneezed, oh that hurt soooo bad. The next morning I woke to feeling very sore with some sharp pains and twinges. This is deffinatley the worst I have ever experienced. I am still confused as to what happenend being this is still a new thing to me. Did it rupture or was the release of the egg down the tube to much to bare, especially if there are cyst's there?

Do you think it is still necessary to move it up if the pain is now pretty fine? What would the risk be of just waiting it out? Not that I am avoiding it, it's just that I'm a teacher and kinda busy wrapping up the year right now, so the 19th is a good date, since I wind up on the 16th.

Linda, you must live on your computer! I also consider myself a computer geek and get accused of living on it. I have to "sneak" sometimes so family doesn't feel ignored!

Would it still hurt if there is torsion? The pain has way lessened, but today I noticed that it is a "different" kind of pain. Can't quite put my finger on an explanation...

Hi again, I had intermittent pain with my last cyst, which did not rupture. I was hoping it had to avoid surgery, so I went in early for another follow-up U/S. Maybe you should check with the doctor's office and explain what is happening and see if they think you need to be seen. It could just be the "normal" pain ( if that exists) caused by these darn things.

By the way, my hubby works out of our home too and I work helping him, so I am on-line a lot as well. Plus, I am somewhat addicted to the computer, even in my free time :-)

I agree about it possibly being "normal" pain. If the intense pain has not returned, maybe that was the ovary twisting around and it has since untwisted to a more "normal" position. I will relay all this to doc and see if he thinks the US should be pushed up. If it did rupture, is there an urgency to have it looked at?

Computers - gotta love 'em! I teach in a computer lab of 28, run a network with linux server and teach photography, graphic design & web design. I do "most" of my own IT and am pretty proud of that!

Hi wubbie, my ovary was turning also. When the doc showed me the pics of my fallopian tube, it was swollen like a balloon. I guess it wasn't complete torsion, but bad enough that I lost the ovary and the tube,  along with the cyst.

I agree to move up the appt.  I've had cysts rupture and when they do it is excrutiating and lasts longer than 20 min.  And there is discomfort for a couple days after.  I have had cysts rupture and leave blood around the ovary and that is excrutiating.  I have a cyst torsion where the pain is intense and brief and still kinda feels a bit different and weird.  So move that appt up.  You never know.

HI there, if the cyst did rupture there is not much they will do except give you pain killers if you need them. I did nothing when mine ruptured,  except tell the doctor. By that time my pain was subsiding and it was kind of "old news".

I can understand the pain. I had a partial rupture of what turned out to be an endometrial cyst in December, and it hurt, alot! I ended up in the ER, and that's where they found the cyst on CT. Then had intermittent pain, mostly ache for about three months (was on oral BC, but was also taking the placebos since they thought it was a hemmhoragic cyst), then in April it was getting worse, had intermittent sharp pains, and a constant low level ache on the right, and by early May it was nearly constant ache with sharper shots. They did surgery on May 17th, and found that the sharp pains were caused by my ovary turning around and adhesing to the back of my uterus. It hadn't torsed completely, but that's what was causing the sharp pains.... the ovary being turned didn't cause blood supply loss, but it sure caused pain from being in the wrong spot.

Give your dr. a call and see if you can move up the us.  It is better to err on the side of caution.  Let us know what happens.

Hi there, I had one of my cysts rupture and the pain was very intense for hours on end and I was very sore for a couple days after as well. It was the kind of pain that would double you over and the next day I was barely able to go down a flight of stairs. But, you might want to do what Linda F suggested and move your appt. up just to be sure there is no torsion?
