Complex ovarian cyst

I am 35 years old and have 2 children, ages 9 and 7. Recently, I had a CT Scan for kidney stones and ovarian cysts were discovered.  Lately I have had some pain during ovulation, but it's not too severe. I have never had any problems in that area, never had problems getting pregnant, etc. 2 weeks ago I saw my ob/gyn for my annual checkup and told him about the CT Scan. He sent me for an ultrasound and bloodwork. Here are the results of the ultrasound:
Single sypoechoic lesion in the uterine body measuring 1.2 x 0.8 x 1/0 cm in size, probably representing uterine fibroid.  The right ovary measures 3.0 x 1.6 x 2.0 cm in size with a cystic appearing lesion measuring 1.1 x 1.2 x 1.3 cm in size.  The left ovary measures 3.1 x 1.6 x 1.9 cm in size with a complex cystic appearing lesion measuring 1.9 x 1.5 x 2.1 cm in size, possibly representing hemorrhagic cyst. There is a second small simple cyst measuring 0.7 x 0.6 x 0.6 cm in size. The endometrial stripe measures 1.0 cm in greatest thickness. No fluid in the cul-de-sac is demonstrated. Impression: Complex appearing left ovarian cystic lesion, possibly representing hemorrhagic cyst and follow-up ultrasound studies are recommended. Simple bilateral ovarian cyst.  Small uterine fibroid.
My CA125 level was 108.  All other levels tested were normal.  My Dr. said that other factors can elevate the CA125.  Is this true? I am having another ultrasound done in a month and more bloodwork.  I am so scared; I want to be around to see my kids grow up!  Does it sound like my Dr. is doing the right thing?  Please give me some opinions!

I hope you see this. Have you tried a lower dose BC pills. There are so many out there nowadays. You are to young to have a hysterectomy. Also when you go to a new doctor ask him about PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). Good Luck. and keep us posted. You really need to start a new thread. This forum gets about 10 new thread aday. Some times we don't see this for down.

I am 26 years old, and for about 5+ months now I've been dealing with cysts.  Feburary 3rd I had two cysts removed from my right overy, they were about the size of a quarter. I had been suffering from pain, bloating.  About two-weeks after that I started having more pain, and I went back to see my ob/gyn and had another ultra-sound done and found out that the cysts had come back but this time on both overies.  He had given me hormone pills to shrink them, they wewnt away that time and by my next period they came back, we tried the pills again the cysts went away and againg by my next period they were back bigger and more painful.  Two-weeks ago he had me try birth-control pills and the pills that he had given me were too strong and I had to stop taking them because I couldn't keep anything down when I took them.  Now My Dr. is telling me to have a my hysterectomy.  He said well at least you won't have to worry about tampons and pads.  I told him I only 26 I'm suppose to worry about that.  But I'm switching my Dr.

Welcome to the site!  Many things can elevate the ca125 and it is also not a reliable test for pre-menopausal women.  It is better when used as a tumor marker when cancer is dx.  Try to remember that 99% of ovarian cysts are benign.  This however does not mean that you should ignore your symptoms.  You are wise in seeking medical attention.  You are in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

As soon as I read that your cyst was hemorrhagic I thought bet her ca 125 is up before I even got that part of your post. Please dont worry my ca 125 is slightly elevated too. There are many reasons for this and to be honest I think the test should not be used in pre op woman. They gave me the test and it has made no difference to my op date so why they bothered I have no idea.

On your side,

Most malignant cysts are above 5 cms

Most malignant cysts appear in woman over 50

ca 125 forget the angel of death test its bo****

You read some peoples posts and think 'Oh god' your isn't one of them.

Best of luck keep in touch Anna x

I would ask for a pelvic MRI, they tell you so much more.  That cyst is small, and I can't believe your CA-125 is elevated because of that. There are many reasons it can be elevated.  Just take action, make them figure out what this is, and to have a plan of action for you.  If it has to be surgically removed, that is OK too.
Try not to worry.  (I can't take my own advice either)
