Complex septated ovarian cyst

I have been diagnosed with a complex septated ovarian cyst.  This was an incidental finding on an abdominal CT.   I had internal and external US that confirmed this finding.   I had the followup US 8 weeks later to confirm that this had resolved, but instead it had increased in size slightly.   I have been referred to a GYN.  Some other symptoms that I have been experiencing were right lower abdominal pain, extreme bloating and weight gain and severe low back pain.  I am worried that this could lead to or be ovarian cancer.  My appointment is not for another month.   From what I have read on the web, this type of cyst almost always has the be removed surgically and tested for cancer.  Can anyone help ease my mind by sharing their experiences with this type of condition.  Thanks to anyone who can help me.

Thank you both for your responses.  I know that the waiting is the worse.  All the things that go through your head.  I have researched this and found out things that I did not want to know.   I am confident that no matter what the outcome I will be okay.  I will take what comes and carry on.  Once again thanks for your support and good luck to you ksmbuddy.  You will be in my prayers as well as the others who have responded to me.  Take care.  I hope all works out in the end.

Worried - I am right there with you.  I too had incidental findings on an MRI and can't see the dr until Sept 6.  Mine was for bilateral cysts and my MRI was originally for lower back pain.

Don´t be afraid. you have  already the report by ultrasound. So now you are  doing the best thing  in getting a consult with the go onc.  as byc lady has told you, waiting is the hardest part of it.. but belive me in medicine the only urgent thing is a melon in the respiratory airway...so ... cancer and even and infarct can have a time more longer..to be cure. You are in good time!!. and oncologist told me that a 5 weeks research is find but keep going!!.  the doctors will help you on this. and don´t be upset. instead of that...try to  eat healthy and do some sport outside..that will be helping you alto to take all this.
take care!!.

Thanks for your response.  I agree the web can produce frightening things.  This is why I wanted to converse with others who have experienced similar things.  I see a GYNE on Sept. 7 now and I will just deal with what it is.  Thanks again for the courtesy of responding.

Waiting is the hardest part.  Any cyst over 5-6cms is usually surgically removed as they can cause issues such as twisting.  As far as it leading to OvCa, it either is or isn't, it is my understanding that a benign cyst (mass) will remain that way when it comes to OvCa, good cells don't turn bad.

If they do suspect cancer, please seek the opinoin from a GYN/Oncologist...they are the experts and the chance of survival increases if someone does have  OvCa and their surgery is done by a GYN/oncologists.

Unfortunately, you will search the web, like we all do, which can sometimes create an un-necessary fear.

Try to hang in there.
