Cramping on left side of ovary
I was just wondering if a cyst causes achiness and dull feeling. I am told I have enlarged ovary and not sure of the culprit yet but this is where the achiness is from adn wondering if anyone knew? or could endometriosis cause this?
Hi Kkase. Have you been to the doctor? Some women experience the sensation you're describing with both cysts and endometriosis. Then again some women feel nothing, or do feel that sensation with normal ovulation. Describe more... I bet you are worried. All these women are here for you.
Yes, from experience the achiness and dull ache can be caused from cyst and endo (and also as Nurse said, from ovulation too). I have the pain coming and going all the time. Do you have an appt. with you doc? How do you know your ovary is enlarged? I'm sure if you give these ladies a bit more of your history, they will be able to give you some advice/direction. As I just posted under Mary V's recent post, you have come to the right place for support and some peace of mind.

I know you are worried. It is important to stay on top of things like this. I don't mean to scare you because it could be ovulation or something else but I just want to share my experience with you. I had the same feeling you described when I was 18 about a week before my period and during my period. I thought it was normal. Some of my sisters had hard periods too. I thought nothing more of it then just a major pain. As the years went by my dull and achy feeling increased into full fleged sharp pain and eventually into pain that would drop me to the floor. It was mostly on my left side. I was going through infertility treatments and the doctor suggested that we do a laperoscopy (a scope through a tiny insision in your belly button)to shed some light on the infertility problem. I still had not mentioned to my doctor about the debilitating pain in my left side. I still thought it was normal and that I should just live with it...that it was just bad periods and that some women just had to live with them.
So I had a laperoscopy. This is minimal day surgery and should only take around 30 min. mine took three hours because of endometriosis scaring that had grown to entangle all my organs in the area including my colon which it had drug down to my pelvic bone and had also wrapped its self several times around my intestines nearly kinking them shut. My doc could not even get his scope in and had to acutally laser away some of the scarring just to manuver his scope around.
When I woke up from surgery he told me how shocked he was that I was going through so much pain and had never told him about it. I told him I thought I was supposed to have bad pain during my periods and realy didnt know if I was justified in complaining about it or not. He told me that no one should ever have to go through that much pain! He then told me that my left ovary had been strangled with scar tissue and had swollen up TEN times as big as normal. So every time I ovulated from the left side stuff could go nowhere and just decade and became toxic. Some of the toxins dripped into my uterus fighting or killing anything that would try to grow in there (such as an embryo).
I had a second surgery to remove the dead and enlarged left ovary (which had several cysts). The surgery also included the cleaning (lasering) up of other scar tissue and cysts.
If I had realized that my condition was serious it may not have gone so far. I don't mean to scare you but it seems to me now that it is better to be suspicious of something, pain, achy or other feelings and go see your doctor rather then hoping that it is nothing. It is better to get the "All Clear" from your doctor then do nothing. Good luck!

Lete- You have been through so much! I am so sorry for you! Isn't it lame how we ignore ourselves? (I'm guilty too). Thank you for sharing, I do hope kkase takes your experience into consideration. You all are wonderful!
