I don't know what to tell you. I went through Doxil for 6 rounds and never ran a fever. I also find it strange that she's getting Doxil which is usually considered a second line treatment. The gold standard as already stated is carbo/taxol or even cisplantin. I would ask her Dr. as this sounds a bit strange to not have her on a antibiotic. Good luck~~~Joanne
I started chemo three days after starting an antibiotic for a severe urinary tract infection. I was hesitant, but my doc assured me it would be okay. Chemos don't typically start affecting blood cell counts until 10-12 days in, so perhaps her doc is counting on having that much longer to get rid of the infection, especially if it is low grade fever. Good luck to you both. Please let us know how it goes for her.

With Leslee any time she had a fever , that had to come down below 99 before they would continue her Doxil. they always gave her anti biotics, predizone, for the fever. Marty
Rosy,
As Donna said, here in the states, the usual first time treatment is carbo/taxol. If she is running a low grade fever, her onc may decide to go ahead and start chemo but also put her on an antibiotic.
I wish her the very best. 19 is far to young to have to deal with ovarian cancer.

I don't know the answer to that, but it sounds like with the infection they would wait. Do you know why they are doing doxil instead of carboplatin and taxol. Here that is usually the first line therapy. Hope she gets better soon. Donna
