Do I have Ovarian Cancer?

Hello,I am 61 and have for many years had severe chronic pain and have had numerous surgeries to rebuild my neck, shoulders, and upper and lower back.I had a TOTAL vaginal hysterectomy when I was 27. So,I'm basically full of metal.I have been in a pain clinic for many years and with this particular Dr. about 3 or 4 years. About 7 months ago I began have pain in my groin and then my upper right leg. He has continued to give me nerve blocks, epiderals and pain meds all these years. The pain in my leg and groin became so horrific and continuous that nothing works for it.I have every narcotic you can name in my medicine cabinet..none of it helps. I finally started losing sleep due to the pain.then loss of appetite and now nausea constantly and headaces,,after researching all I could because I am losing my mind with this pain..all the symptons poiint to Ovarian cancer. What type of Dr. do I need to make an appt. with ? And do you think the symptoms I described are what I think it is. I have lost SO many people in my lifetime that I am not afraid of death or a diagnosis of cancer. I just need to know what to  do to find out if I'm right.Thank you

Thank yuo Dear. I do have my ovaries. I have decided to see someone right away. The constant nausea, headaches, leg and groin pain and some sporadic vaginal bleeding.and loss of appetite and general loss of enenrgy and strength makes me think it could be.. I appreciate your kindness and reply.

Do you still have ovaries?  If so, you want a checkup from a gynecologist -- particularly an ultrasound of the ovaries and a CA-125 test.  Neither would diagnose ovarian cancer, but they can give clues to the doctor. If s/he's suspicious, s/he might want to remove your ovaries and have the pathologist determine whether or not there's cancer there.  That's the only way you get a diagnosis of ovca.   By the way, you want a gynecological oncologist to do that type of surgery, even if the doctor thinks you have benign cysts.

If not, I don't see how you get a diagnosis of ovarian cancer.  It's true that ovca can spread to other organs (your omentum or appendix, if you still have them -- or your liver or lungs) but I think you have to have had cancer in the ovaries first.

I feel bad that you've had so much pain.  I hope you're able to find some solutions soon.
