ER Visit

I had a rough night with pain. After taking my husband to the airport, I called my GYN doctors office. The doctors are out of town at a conference/seminar. I talked with the nurse to ask about the pain that keeps intensifying since Wednesday's doctor visit and ultrasound. I was instructed to go immediately to the ER, in case what is on my left ovary has burst or about to.

So, I went to the ER, had a CT scan done. What was found.... not only has the mass on my left ovary grown to 8cm, but now my right ureter is collapsed and something with the right kidney also.

I have an appointment to see the very same urologist that my husband goes to. Will see him on Thursday. Also will see my GYN doctor Wednesday. And also will see a GYN/oncologist next week.

Surgery is needed to removed the 8 cm mass and also to inject dye to look at the ureter and also will look at the kidney. A stent may be put into the ureter if nothing else is causing this problem.

Now we finally know what has caused all the severe pain since last Fall. So, now I must go for appointments and everything will be arranged for surgery.

No matter what.... I am not waiting until my husband returns home from China if the doctors need to do surgery right away. My husband has told me while waiting for his connecting flight to not wait, to do what I need to do to get this all taken care of. I told him, if the doctors want surgery immediately.... I won't refuse and never would that thought to.

I'm glad you went to the ER at least you now know what you are dealing with and that should give you a little peace of mind. I think you are right in going ahead with the surgery and not waiting, please make sure the gyne/onc does the surgery you really need an expert in removing any sort of mass.

I'm glad you went to the ER.  So are your kidneys damaged or are you just having problems with your urether?  I pray whatever is causing your pain is a small issue that can be repaired easily.  Keep us informed.

I don't know if there is kidney damage. I have an appointment on Thursday with the Urological doctor. Same doctor that my husband goes to.

I have faith that whatever is causing the problem with the ureter, that my doctor will do a great job.

I have a feeling that due to the size of the mass on my left ovary... maybe this is causing pressure on the ureter or maybe something has spread to be causing this. I won't know for sure until procedures are done.

Atleast we have finally begun to find the cause of all this pain since last Fall.

If it had not been that I had gone with my husband to see the urologist for his test results.... and then talking about what is going on with me.... I would have not called my GYN to be seen immediately this week. I also would not have picked up all the CT, MRI and ultrasound reports to see that I had a very large mass on my left ovary in January. I am very upset with that ER doctor to have not informed me then. But now can't look back, I just need to focus on today and the future. I also would not have ended up in the ER yesterday if I had not found out all that now know about this mass being as large as it is.

I had a soft tissue mass after my surgery that blocked up my left ureter. They had to inject dye and insert a stent as well. I know what kidney pain feels like, and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I hope you get some much needed relief soon!
