Elevated CRP in blood

Does anyone know anything about what causes an 'elevated CRP level'?

Mum had OVCA March 2005, stage 3, in remission since.

Thanks

They did a full blood test as she had been tired lately and wanted to check her blood count to see if she needed iron tablets.

Just found the answer to my questions on your post on the Dr.'s forum.  If your mom has arthritis it would elevate the CRP and that is why they ordered the test.  Mine is elevated with my arthrits.  Good luck to your mom, positve energy to you both

CRP is C reactive protein, it elevates in the presence of inflammation or infection.  It is a non-specific riser, it elevates in arthritis, cardiac disease, pneumonia, and unfortunately cancer.  Do not panic because it is not a good marker.  How is your mothers's CA 125?  has she been sick?  This is a very non specific indicator, why did they draw it?  What problem was she having?
