Surgery again but this one may be more serious

Well, I went to see the general surgeon (who assisted in my right ovary removal.  He repaired a hernia for free) about my ovarian cyst.  He did a pelvic and said that he could feel the cyst.  After that, we went into his office to pull up the CT scan I had in December.  As he was looking through it he was shaking his head and going  Hmmm ( he said he does not usually do that in from of patients, but we know each other well enough that he is going to give it to me straight).  He said that the cyst is wrapped around my urter tube (that they had to fix and reinsert into my bladder after my left ovary was taken out VIA laperscope.  It was too large to remove that way but the doctor did it anyway and in the process he ripped out my urter tube from my bladder and I ended up with paratanitis).  He said that he is afraid that it will not peel off of the urter tube very easily and that he is afraid that my urter tube will have to be repaired and replaced again.  He has not done a surgery like that in 15 years (he used to teach surgeons how to do the surgery) and our small town hospital is not set up for that kind of surgery.  He said that is why he is hesitant to do the surgery himself.  He told me he has only referred 3 other patients to anothe surgeon in 30 some years.  So now I am going to go to Lafayette Indiana where my urologist is and see a gyn there.  Hopefully we can get the ball rolling before Keith has to go back to work.  It will be done by doing a laperotomy (sp) and I will be in the hospital for at least 5 days.  I'll let you know more info when I find out more.

Also, my grandma had to go have a colonoscopy done today and they removed 15 pollops and one was too big to remove.  That one was very suspicious for colon cancer.  They are going to do surgery in 4-6 days and we will find out then if it is cancer or not.  Please keep her in your prayers.

Love you all
Kasie

I imagine Lafayette would have a good supply of good doctors to handle your particular situation.  And how wonderful your own doc must be to be so honest with you.

I will keep you in my prayers, please keep us posted.  I have an office in Indy, and always stop at the Cracker Barrel in Lafayette on my way down from Chicago.

God Bless,
Morrowville

Hi Kasie,

It sounds like your doctor is thorough and careful in referring you to the Gyn in Lafayette.  All the best for your surgery, and hopefully the  laproscopic surgery is not quite as invasive.and remember to rest up well and good afterwards.
Good luck and my love and prayers are with you and your grandmother.

Peace and love
Kim

Kasie,
I hate to hear that you will have to go through more surgery. But hopefully they will get things fixed so you wont have any more problems.

I hope things turn out well for your grandma also.
