Endometrial stripe???

What does the term, Endometrial Stripe(s) means???  This was something noted on my radioligist report.

Also, how concerned should one be about a "possible" noted solid mass on right ovary, of 2.1cm???

This US was preformed back in August, and after sitting down with my gyno, he was not concerned, and pushed it off as something menstral related.

This term "solid" really confusses and upsets me.  Can anyone help to clarify or put into prosective the term, "solid/solid mass"???

Thanks,

Halimah

Note:  I have taken BC in the past, not the length of 5 years though.  However I do have 7 healthy, natural birth children.  I also had a laparoscopy in 93", for endometriosis.  They also found a small dime-sized cyst on the same ovary, which they removed, and stated that it was benign.

Hi
I have been searching for information because of my mother's condition.  My mother is 67 yrs. old and she told me she had her period about 3 wks ago.  I immediately set her up for an appointment with the gyno.  My mom I found out has not been there in years.  I also found out that she has had a prolapsed uterus for almost 30 yrs.  When she wemt to the appt.  the dr told her she was going to do a hysterectomy just based what she seen that day.  The dr. ordered a transvaginal ultrasound for 2 wks later.  The ultrasound revelaed an endometrial stripe 3 x times the size of what it should be at her age.  The dr took a biopsy immediately and told her she would be in touch next week.  I am concerned that it is cancer.  She is overweight, has dry skin patches all over and thinning hair.  She told me prior to her bleeding she had a discharge for about 2 wks that had a disgusting odor that she could not get rid of with any bath or shower.  Please if anyone has ever gone thru these things please share your experience if you could.  I want to ask the correct questions because she is not.  thanks    kathy D

If the pain is getting really bad,a nd you can't get in to the doc because of referral issues, you can always go the ER (you have insurance, right?)  They will do a CT or MRI and another ultrasound and hopefully get you some pain relief.  I would not let it wait.  Or, call your doc and say it's an emergency and you need to see someone RIGHT NOW.  Being doubled over in pain is NOT OK!  Tell them you need answers and pain relief immediately.  Let me know how it goes.

The endometrial stripe has to do with the thickness of the lining of the uterus and where you are in your menstrual cycle, or if you're post menopausal , there is a "safe limit" to how thick the endometrial stripe can be (I believe .5 cm.)  If you are menstruating, the stripe gets thicker as your cycle gets closer to your period.  When mine was first measured, it was determined to be borderline thick (1.25 cm)  for that time in my cycle, but advised to remeasure 7-10 days after start of my period, at which time it was fine.  If there is a question, they will probably do a D&C. Good luck.

Thanks so much for your help in defining the term "endometrial stripe".  However, I am now more concerned with this mass on my ovary than anything else.  In the last few days my pain has gotten gradually worse.  I was almost doubled over in pain a few hours ago, but I was able to eat something, and take some ibuprofen.

Yes, I deffinately think you are right about me not letting this go.  I have also spoken to my internal medicine doc, and she advised the same thing.  I have found a specialist, however I need to get a referal from my ob first.  I am very worried about this.  Recently, in the last 2 week (give or take) I have been experiencing a lot of pain.  Predominately on the right side only.  Would OV cause this same symptom?  All my pain is reflected soley on the right side of my body.

So a solid cyst may not always mean something cancerous then, especialy if that woman has endometriosis, is that true?
