Fibrroids

I don't have any form of cancer, but I do have fibroids.  My sister is telling me that I should ask the doctor if he can perform laparoscopy, is that even an option for me?

Hi,
I had fibroids and they were causing heavy bleeding and pain, Are you having symptoms from them? .Fibroids are benign muscular growths in the uterus that are very common in women after the age of 30 , for some women they cause no symtoms and they don,t even know they have them until they go for exams . There are a couple of procedures in surgery they can do to remove them and 1 is called embolisation where they kill the blood supply to the fibroid and it dies . There is another procedure and im sure you will find it on google if you type in surgery for fibroids but I don,t recall the name of it . Basically if the fibroids are not causing you symptoms and are not growing rapidly , most doctors opt to leave them alone . Hope this has helped .

Best wishes Angie

I don't know much about fibriods.  There is another great website, hystersisters, someone there will know alot about fibriods and alternative choices to hyserectomies.

Best of luck to you.
