Flu care and treatment

This has created another hitch in treatment for Leslee, so I want to pass on some info to all of you.  Leslee had the flu shot this year, but her daughter that lives with them and is going to college  developed Influenza A,  last Tuedsay, Wenesday went to ER, dx with the flu, started on Tamiflu 75mg  twice daily for 5 days, this put Leslee at great risk because of her immune system, after doing some research I found that the Tamiflu also is used to prevent flu, so I called Les and she went to her clinic today and they have now ordered the Tamiflu for her 75mg daily for 10 days.  Just talked with her again and asked WHY the clinic did not suggest to them, at the flu shot times, that her entire family should also be given the shot? I am trying to help her long distance, but the more I think about it, the more I am disturbed about it.  There are so many people out there with impaired immune systems, that to me, it only makes sense to protect them in any way available. She has no symptoms yet, but the incubation period is 7-10 days. Leslee called the clinic yesterday and asked about this but no one suggested her taking something that has been shown to prevent flu.  Only today, after she had talked to me,  did she go in and they wrote her the perscription.  Saying "we think it is a good idea"  All I can say is Thank God for the internet and its information.  Please protect yourselves, because I do care about all of you.  Marty

Hey there.....you have offered lots of good advice.....you donate a lot of time....I know many here are so greatful.
When I was taking chemo I asked every one living in this house to get the flu shot and they all did.....I was grateful....it worked.  I don't know why it is not standard info passed out......clearly it should be.
Have a great weekend.
Peace.
