Forgot to mention in my post

I knew I was forgetting something.  Testing was done by PCP, found trace a hemoglobin in urine, and quite a few white blood cells, although no bladder infection. I had had two back-to-back stubborn uti's when the backaches started.  Also, bloodwork was okay.  BTW, I had the ultrasound done 1.5 years ago because I was spotting between periods back then.  Thanks.

The periods could be menopause, the other symptoms could be ovarian.  I had UTI"s early on, 9 months before my diagnosis of OC, and went to primary care.  a year and a 1/2 ago is a long time for the ultrasound, cysts and tumors grow with in that time period, and they do not show on regular X-rays.  You would need another US, or a CT, MRI to show the ovaries.  If the earliest you can see the gyn is May, try getting your Primary care to order the other tests, that way you have them out of the way.  If there is any concern, see a GYN oncologist, they are the best for women's surgery.  Good luck

Thank you so much for your quick response and for taking the time to respond.  As you can imagine, I am quite concerned, but also concerned that maybe I'm just making a big deal out of nothing.  I'll call my PCP and bug her, but I can never reach her directly because it's an HMO (Kaiser) in California.

What was your stage of OC when diagnosed?  Did you have any symptoms other than the UTI's?  What prompted you to go to the doctor?

You are welcome.  I am older than you 62, so with in the age group of one who gets OC, I was a 3c.  What I have learned here however, is that 99% of the problems are benign.  The symptom that got me to the gyn was loss of bladder control.  I did not recognize any others, except with hind sight fatique.  Hope this helps.  Think positive.
