General questions concerning ovarian cancer

Hello all..

I'm hoping to get some answers to some questions I have. First off I have not been diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer, but have an appt. this Wednesday for a check. My history is stage 2 breast cancer (8 years ago at the age of 35)..I also had one ovary removed about 6 years ago due to a cyst that was causing non stop bleeding. I have had no period since going through chemo for breast cancer.

Recently (past 5 months) I have had swelling in my stomach. It looks like I'm 3 months or so pregnant:( I also have some lower back pain, and some pain in my pelvic area (not all the time, comes and goes) I've had some pain in my legs also. I've also had heartburn, which my regular family doctor just put me on something for that.

I sadly admit I have not had a check up in 5 years, so of course I'm now very stressed over my stupidity of not going to the doctors. I still have one ovary and my uterus also.

My questions are...is there any special tests I should request? I know you guys cannot tell me anything in regards to my symptoms, only a doctor can through tests. However, would this be a concern for those of you that do know about ovarian cancer?

Thanks for all your help, needless to say I'm stressed, but hoping I'm stressed for nothing:)

Mine was not found until I had a CT scan. I had a transvaginal ultra sound, but it was not found. My tumor was huge (I looked 7 months pregnant). My CA 125 was 34 which is "normal". My pcp was convinced my stomach problems (large abdomen, weight gain, horrible indisgestion which I had never had before) would disappear when my thyroid was "fixed". Ovarian cancer is rare, but keep at your doctors until you get a diagnosis which makes sense to you.

Mine also was discovered on a CAT scan, my Doc was looking for stomach issue cause.( thought I had IBS) He called in Onc while I was at Radiology, Onc ordered the CA 125, tv ultrasound. The next step was the Lap. Best of luck to you, let us know how it goes. Barb
