Genome of Cancer Patient Explored

This was really interesting...a cancer patient (not ovarian) who died, researchers were allowed to explore her genome (the first time for a cancer) and explore how it worked against health tissue.  They were surprised and admitted this proves how little we all know about cancer.

Here is the link:  http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27560127/

The one piece I took from the article is that with faster DNA sequencing, this can proablly be done on other cancers like ovarian...we can only hope  (speaking of, the NCI *did* choose ovarian as one of three, I believe, cancer they will be exploring in depth via genome)

My daughter just saw a segment on CBS.  The doctor speaking was Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel.  I missed the segment but from what he said he's been researching Genome and I'm not sure what kind of treatment he is doing but has had success with it.  I'm going to try and find out more about this doctor.  My daugher was under the impression that the treatment used chemotherapy (Not sure).  Sounds exciting!  I'll post if I can find out more info....Cindy
