Gyne info for CindiSue

Hi Cindi, I visited my Gyne today for a 6 week check up and explained I was still feeling rough, the pain hadn't gone, my period was just as painful and I still feel the same as before the laparotomy, he explained this is absolutely normal firstly because I'm 3 weeks behind in the recovery process due to my abscess, and I'd had alot done. He explained that both ovaries had to be disected due to a cyst on one and the Endometrioma on the other. He also said the ablation leaves the tissues very tender and raw and the peritoneum which is thin membrane that lines the abdominal and pelvic area is as sensitive as the eyea and does not like any interference, he said the muscles and nerves also take their time healing and it will be a couple of months before I feel any great benefit, he said recovery is slow but I'm doing ok and not to push it. Finally I asked about recurrence and unfortunately he couldn't answer that question. So I guess we have to wait and watch and keep our fingers crossed.  Hopefully this good news will reassure you a little.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you are doing well. I know it will take time but we have to keep reminding each other when we loose it alittle! I keep having to remember to take the 800mg IB, always too late. I need to get on a better schedule for that and I think I need to take it every 6 hours not 8. I did get some more percocet for this week and took one last night and it helped alot.

I think my biggest problem was that I had felt so much better last week. But we have to remember how bad periods and PMS were before surgery and now we have the surgery recovery AND the period stuff which I'm sure is complcated more due to the surgeries.

Thank goodness for the docs who still remind us that this kind of "clean up surgery" is major. Thanks for the pep talk! If you need one down the road...or anyone listening, just hollar!

Hey, I lived through the DMV this morning so I'm doing okay! HA HA!   Cindi

I know exactly what you mean, I felt great for about a week after the op then went downhill when the abscess came on. We keep beating ourselves up thinking we should be better than we are and you are so right, we have to cope with recovery, periods, PMS and hormones all over the place so what do we expect. This site is wonderful, our other halves try to be understanding but they have no idea what we're ging through and it helps so much to talk to other people who are in exactly the same boat.

Just a pain reliever tip - I was told to take IB 400mg every 6 hours with Codiene and then in between take paracetamol.
Unfortunately I'm back on Tramadol and Antibiotic's again to get rid of a water.

Thanks! Some of the problem with me is that I have other health issues, too, so we were really hoping that this surgery would help overall.

When it appeared to be that I was getting so much better so quickly hubby got very excited! He said I was acting and looking like my old self. He said I had "looked sick in my face" for a long time and I all of a sudden looked so much better. HA HA! I joked it was all a scam and I'd had a secret face lift! He hasn't come out and said I looked sick again but I know I am not acting the same as I was last week.

I have a sleep disorder and I think some of that "miracle cure" may have been from the added sleep I was getting after surgery. I hopefully get my CPAP air machine in a few weeks so I will be better on that level.

When  I feel up to it I also have to get into the rhumatologist again to get meds as my hands have gotten quite bad. So for me right now, when it rains it pours couldn't be any truer...I may as well keep a soap-on-a-rope around my neck and save on the water bill! Gotta keep laughing or I'd die crying!

Thanks and keep your chin up...mines so unnaturally high I look snooty: trying a little too hard, maybe!   Cindi
