Hope your surgery gets rescheduled soon and is successful! Waiting is aweful, but atleast you get another pair of the sexy compression stockings :), woohoo. Take care and good luck!

I am so sorry to hear this. I cannot believe that they couldn't have found this out sooner. Can't they do the fasting test now, get the results now, and then do the surgery right away? I am stomping mad for you. Hang in there, though, we will get you through this.

Kasie,
So sorry this happened, and on the day of surgery too..I hope they can get your sugar under control, and help you without waiting 3 months. Someone dropped the ball, on pre-op testing. Don't let it get you down, here for you.

The thing about it is that it seems like they could have told you before you were practically in the surgery suite. I guess no one could have looked at them yesterday and told you before you made the 45 mile trip to the hospital? That is incredibly frustrating! I don't understand why she said three months to wait, either. Surely her schedule isn't THAT full. I hope you get to do it next week. Until then, take those pain pills and we'll all pray this gets done sooner than later.
Love you!
Gail
I am so sorry this happened, and you would think that in the medical world, all of the practitioners would have had all their ducks in a row well before a few minutes before you were to go under for the surgery.
This very thing happened to me on June 26 of this year when I, too, was in my stockings...the IV was about to be placed, and I was all but putting my little cap on when the doctor and the anesthesiologist (sp?) came in and apologized to me (in my case I had called a week before to check on a Med that I'd discontinued but there was concern that perhaps I had not been off it long enough) for any misunderstandings or inconveniences, and said they were not comfortable doing the surgery (eyelid drooping and cyst removal off the other lid)........
I was relieved they investigated the situation further, even though the timing could have been better (although the initial opinion that surgery could go on was made by someone the week before who was not there on the day I was cancelled). I was relieved because it as it sounds as if the risks of having had the surgery that day were pretty serious for something to go wrong.
Know that I am honestly not trying to compare my situation to yours in that I was not in constant pain as you are (although the cyst was a pain in the neck) and in my case it involoved just waiting another week. so that my body could totally clear out the med that was of concern..... so on that level, Oh MY Goodness!!!!! Do I ever feel for you!.....
But, I also know you well enough that once the shock of being sent home under the circumstances wears off, you will look at this with a perspective that encompasses a concern that this was just not meant to be at this time and that there will be much more good than bad that will come out of this situation... WHY? Because Mary 53 SAID SO :)
I love you, but you know that.
Mary
Thank heaven the anasthesiologist checked your numbers, but absolutely devastating to have to wait for your surgery. I am having some surgery tomorrow and I cannot imagine how I would react if they cancelled it. Hell hath no fury ..............
Hopefully it will be done sooner than later. Prayers coming your way.

I'm just shocked !! But as has been said, it really is good that it was caught. I can only imagine how hard this must be for you .. what a dreadful let down.
Here's hoping your surgery can be done asap! please know we're all thinking of you !1
Love,
Sandy
I am also sorry about today BUT I am glad that they caught it before something happened ...everything happens for a reason...Take care of yourself and please keep me posted after your doctor visit...Stay well and everything will work out...My thoughts and prayers are with you....Love, Gia
Oh Kasie...I'm so sorry about today. That's an awful way the doctor handled things, that's for sure. It's the worst when you wait all day and mentally prepare yourself only to have it all cancelled so suddenly. I do hope things work out for you and that your surgery can go ahead as soon as possible. I know what it's like to make arrangements for things like this and then have to scramble to make it all work.
I will send you the most positive thoughts I can muster...
Love Becky
Oh Kasie, I can't believe they didn't know about something like this until the last minute and thank God the anesthesiologist found it. I would also be talking to your PCP about what kinds of questions YOU should ask before you go into surgery. Is there anything else they should know before doing surgery besides your sugar levels? If they can so easily drop the ball like that, than you really have to look out for yourself and make sure they have tested everything and scanned everything they are supposed to.
I am so sorry you are going through this. Mentally gearing up for surgery is very difficult and to have to do it twiice is unfair for one surgery!!!!!
Just get your sugar under control and than have the surgery. I don't know much about diabetes. How much will this change your life or lifestyle having to take into consideration being diabetic? I honestly can't believe they didn't know about this before. That is outrageous.
Is this going to affect springfield?
Just take care of you.
