HELP ME!!!!!!!!

Hi, i am new here and found this site through researching. I made a trip to the hospital last night due to a week long pain in my lower left abdomen. I thought this was diverticulitis because ive had this before. I was diagnosed with a 10cmx6cm left ovarion herterogenic mass ( i dont even know what this means!) and was told by the ER doc that "i think it may be cancer" and  to "see an oncologist as soon as possible".. i am 36 yrs old and ive suffered with cysts for years. I did have a partial hysterectomy when i was 20. i am scared to death at this point and have to go to a clinic...im not sure what to expect. I do NOT have insurance and Im scared IM GONNA DIE BECAUSE IM BROKE! people say "possible cancer" and just the word cancer incites fear! Am i being too crazy? i have anxiety disorder and this new news is NOT helping. any words of wisdom? advice? anything! i am desperate here......thank you

I'm post menopausal, developed a large cyst on my left ovary. I was also told I would need surgery and would have an oncologist on hand to deal with any complications. Not news I wanted to hear. I had my ovary, tube and a 10 cm cyst removed. No sign of cancer.

What we need to remember is over 95% of cysts are NOT malignant. I still think it's a shame that even a small amount of them do turn out bad but hang on to the odds that yours is probably just some nasty thing that needs to be removed and that's it. You won't know until they get in there. It's so hard to wait and wonder. We've all been through that. Just one step at a time. Please keep us posted as you go along. The women here know exactly how you feel.

That would be great. I'm wishing and hoping for good news for you. I remember how difficult it was to wait and worry.

What are they doing on Tuesday? The surgery?

thank you sooo much Ireneo... its hard to know that so many women are going thru this, but on the other side of the scope, its feels better to know there are people to help you get thru this. I do have plans to go to a hospital known for being "the best" on tuesday. Hopefully they can help me and set my mind at ease. thank you for your words and encouragement. I will make sure i update to let you know how it went.
