Had endo biopsy - is bleeding afterward normal

Well, I had the endo biopsy today and they lie!  It's painful!  But, it's over now.  Anyway, I'm still cramping some and now I'm bleeding again.  Not bad, but still bleeding.  Is this normal?

I forgot to say that before my doctor did the endometrial biopsy yesterday, she did say it would be very uncomfortable with some cramping.  She sprayed some lidocaine or something to help numb the cervix/uterus/endometrium before inserting the needle.  It was very uncomfortable like she said, and I did bleed, but by this morning the bleeding had stopped.  I figured I could endure a little pain in order for them to test to see what might be going on.

I had an endometrial biopsy yesterday and they said it would take a week to get the pathology report back.  I have been in menopause for about 7 years and had not so much as spotted since then, but last Thursday I saw a little blood on the tissue which scared the devil out of me. The docs have been "watching" (through transvaginal ultrasound) a solid mass for a few years now.  I wondered if the spotting could be coming from the ovary, but the doctor said no.  Hence, the endometrial biopsy and pap smear done yesterday.  I got a call today saying that the mass had actually gotten smaller since the last ultrasound back in March.  They have no way of knowing whether or not it is malignant unless they remove it.  My question is, "do malignant tumors shrink on their own or do they continue to grow?"  I'm hoping it is benign, but can't know for sure.

Thanks for replying. I am 34. I had an ultrasound last Friday. My doctor ordered bloodwork with a ca125 and a CTScan which I had this past Tuesday. I am waiting for results.  I called today and found out that my dr. went on vacation. I had these tests done at a hospital so I am sure it will take a little longer but I know the results of the ct scan should be in by now. I am waiting for another dr. or nurse to call. I have endo (which I am sure is the main problem) I had an endometrioma burst which was next to my left ovary. Very painful. I am extremely bloated which is one of the reasons I went to the dr. last week. I am concerned it may be ovarian cancer becuase the symptoms are so alike. So I am not going to be able to relax until I know for sure. Any thinhg you canm share on the topic?? Thank you for your kind wishes!

Endometrial biopsy is when they take some scrapings off the lining of your uterus and analyze it. They go through your cervix with a thin tube. It is procedure done in the doctor's office, and sometimes hurts. The sampling he took looked like a little jar of red bloody worms (nice) They do it to check for cellular changes in the lining of the uterus.
Endometriosis is a different thing all together...the endometrium, lining of the uterus, does not play nicely and leave your body the way it is supposed to. This uterine tissue can back up or move around within your body and do nasty things to your ovaries, tubes, etc.
Have you had an ultrasound? How old are you? What problems are you having? Would you like fries with that?

Can you tell me what is an endo. biopsy and why you had the procedure? I have endo. and have had an ovary removed. I went for a Ca 125 test today and will have a CT Scan on Tuesday. Thank you.

Thanks, Katie.  It's nice to know that someone else had the same "uncomfortable" procedure.  I'm here to tell you that the doctor needs to learn the difference between uncomfortable and down right painful!  But, it's over now.  I'm glad yours came back normal.  I pray that mine does also.  I don't have any cysts or fibroids or anything so she said that unless something came back on the biopsy she didn't think I would need an hyster.  She thinks that the bc pills will take care of the endo.  I'll be glad when April 3rd is here and I can put this behind me.

I too have been wiped out.  I guess from 3 days of worry and tests and then the stress of the biopsy today.  It is exhausting and adding to that the anemia.  I'm ready for some sleep and maybe tomorrow I'll have a little more energy.

Thank you.  It's pretty light.  No clots or anything like that.  The cramping seems to letting up some.  I've never had anything wrong with me before and this whole thing seems so overwhelming right now.  I also found out that I'm anemic on top of everything.  The doctor put me on Chromagen and also on Yasmin to regulate my hormones.  I read the side effects of the Yasmin and am concerned about the side effects.  I'm sure I just worry too much.  I don't normally even take Advil unless I'm in serious pain.

I can't believe that I won't get the results of the biopsy back until April 3rd.  It's torture.

I had that procedure in January and I tell ya, BOY it hurt! And yes I had quite a bit of bleeding after, but it stopped that evening pretty much.  I felt pretty shattered that day, worrying about the lead up to it and then doing it. I swear, if men had to go through that, they'd knock em out or something. Although my friend had one recently and said it didn't hurt.  Just depends I guess. I was anemic too and I think that can make you bleed more, correct me guys if I am wrong. Or am I just getting that confused with hemophilia?!
I think it's good they are at least trying you on some hormones, they didn't bother with me, just did a hysterectomy. (heavy bleeding, fibroids, ovarian cysts) I'd say try the hormones for a bit and try not to worry. Take hormones over a hyster if ya can!
I am like you, I hate being sick and rarely take anything.
The waits they put they through are just plain ridiculous. My results were two weeks as well and it turned out clear. Take it easy tonight and tomorrow.

The cramping is normal, and should stop soon.  The bleeding should be limited to 'spotting' or like a very light flow of your period.  If the bleeding is severe, then call your doctor or go to the ER.   Likewise, should you develop a fever of 101 or higher, then call your doctor or go to the ER.
