Hi girls... and thankyou for the input, as I don't know that much about Avastin yet. It's always good to get some info from those who are having it, before fronting up to begin the ordeal. :-)
My CA.125 is a good marker, but it's always in the 100s or 1000s, so I've learned to live with those high numbers.. and have been doing so for 4 years now.
I wish you both all the best with Avastin.. and I hope to hear wonderful news from you both in due course....Hugs to you both...Helen...
Becky what you say is true, minimal side effects in comparison to other treatments I have had and there have been plenty over the last 5+ years, I get 15 mg/kg every 3 weeks so its pretty much the same dosage. My CA125 is very very sensitive it rises and falls quickly. I am hoping that it starts dropping again - what a roller coaster ride this is. Take care - Judy
Hi there. I'm on Avastin right now. I get 10mg/kilogram of bodyweight and I have my treatments every other week. I have had no side effects as of yet - actually I feel pretty good. I am tired, moreso after the infusion, but it resolves itself after a few days. I also take cyclophosphamide everyday in a pill. No real side effects from that either. I know when you read about Avastin and all of the scary side effects, it's frightening! I still lose sleep over it, but I really feel ok. I'm pleasantly surprised....
I go for my next CT scan on March 25th, and by then, I'll have 4 treatments under my belt. I'll let you know the results when I get them. As for the CA125, it was never a good marker for me and I don't honestly know if they even check it anymore.
Take care,
Becky
Hello... My Oncol. is talking about Avastin for me later too, so I am interested in hearing anything re side affects etc also. He did say that it seems to work better in combination with another chemo, and suggested Caelyx...but that was only a suggestion. I won't know until we get down to the 'nitty-gritty' and decisons are made.
Please let's know how you go... and I do hope it works for you. Sometimes with some of these drugs, they don't work immediately, and as we are all different, it could take a little more time for you. Wishing you all the best, and good results....hugs...Helen...
