Tip from my Onc nurse
Glass of Hot Water (Slice of lemon improves it) first thing each morning before you eat. Complements the fibre and juices option,( without the cramps i had when needed to resort to lactulose and Movicol etc).
It works best when you are able to get out for a 30 minute walk each day.
tried the miralx, prune juice and sometimes apple juice. that usually works for me. lots of fiber and water too. there is always the old standby magnesium sulfate. but that is like taking liquid plummer or drano. don't use it unles talk to dr first. cause once it starts forget it.
I take Senokot-S, two tablets every night. I also take Benefiber, try to eat right with fiber foods, drink a ton of water and sometimes Miralax too. I was taking Miralax on a daily basis but am currently off of it, due to the severe bloating I have daily. Haven't noticed a difference so will probably go back to the Miralax too.
I was taking an herbal tea but developed severe stomach cramps. It definitely worked but cannot take waking up at 3am with stomach cramps, so stopped that.
Good luck!

Hi Conners,
Here's what my oncology nurse recommended: Miralax which is a stool softener that you mix into a liquid, I use it every day.
Colace tablets, also a stool softener, I take 2 a day, and a cup of prune juice.
I've also increased my fiber with high fiber cereals, and breads, fresh fruits and veggies.
That combo has worked very well for me, for at least a year and the stool softeners are not habit forming.
Good luck,
Jane
