How much does an ultra sound typically cost?

I still have this lump by my ovary and my parents aren't going to take me to get an ultra sound or anything, so I'm going to have to pay for it myself.

I am now experiencing a dull pain and it seems to push out a bit more than it did. I just want to get it checked out. I even started birth control and it's still there.

What other ways can I find out what it is?

I work in a private ultrasound clinic. An abdominal ultrasound would usually run $500 at the local hospitals, but we only charge $175 and frequently perform the TV as included. I would recommend looking in the yellow pages or asking a local dr or midwife's office if they can reccommend a local tech.

I'd caution you to check if the ultrasound tech was ARDMS registered before just going with the lowest price. Some clinics/hospitals use less qualified techs that could make huge mistakes. If you have the name of the tech doing the test you can go online and check how long they've been registered with ARDMS and whether they have any lawsuits/penalizations. I hope you got the help you need.

If you want to try for medicaid go by or call your local social services dept. You will then fill out an application if approvedthe only thing you will be held responsible for is your 1.00 co-pay. you may also want to contact your local hospital and ask if they participate with charity care.

Most states have a paln for people in your situation.  My sister is 20 and had pelvic inflammatory disease last fall.  She had to have laparoscopic surgery and was in the hospital several days.  Her bill totaled $20,000 and she only had to pay $13.00 of it.  She had a job making $9.25/hr but her bills proved to be more than she could possibly afford.  Places offer sliding scale fees.  My friend had an u/s and paid only 15.00 for it on sliding scale.  It is worth looking into.

Normally if you go to your local ob/gyn doctor the costs arent that much they will or course charge you for an office visit and will most likely do a transviginal us. If you are an established pt at the pratice the price for the office visit will be much less than if you are a new pt though. If you do have to go to the hospital the cost will be very expensive. Have you ever though about medicaid? Or do they offer it where you live?

Outpatient clinics are usually cheaer and include the doctor fee to read also.  My pelvic u/s(transvag and transabd) together was $220 and it was in an outpatient facility.

I recently had an ultrasound performed at the local hospital.  The bill, which will at least in part be paid by my insurance, was for over $400.  Ack.  However, an ultrasound performed in the doctor's office should cost less.
