I had a total abdomen hysterectomy July 17 2014. After surgery I blew up like a balloon all over. I was so distended I couldn't move. Next day my palms were white and was told I was bleeding internally. I got four blood transfusions. Then I was given another catheter and LASIK because I now had fluid on my lungs and my oxygen was low and had trouble breathing. Then I had degenerative heart failure and had a heart moniter for 3 or 4 days. I was unable to eat and had no bowel movement yet. I was in so much pain I could barely move or walk. I had terrible pain in my lower back and it hurt to lay in bed. My incision looked great besides a bruise above it about 2 inches in diameter.
I still couldn't eat or poop and would dry heave water which was so painful because I was still so distended . It hurt so much and I have a high pain tolerance, still could barely move. I was finally released eleven days later when I was able to eat. I was admitted again because of my pain and unable to barely walk or eat . I was told It was just gas and and to eat soft food and was released. Five days later I was in so much pain and dry heaving and went numb. I thought I was dying and to be quite honest I wanted to. Emergency admitted me this time because I they thought I might have an infection. I was given antibiotics for 3 days and finally an enema worked and I passed a lot of black liquid. I was released when I was able to walk, shower and eat some food without throwing up It took me at least a week to gain my appetite and a desire to eat and drink. I was a little anorexic for a 'foody' and was concerned. The Dr prescribed an estrogen patch which I've worn every day since. He was concerned I had a blood disorder and have many blood tests and alll appears normal....I am able to exercise now but I'm very lethargic and depressed. I have no libido. I have a lot of pain in my left knee and both hands for no apparent reason, I weighed 123 lbs the day of surgery and 109 when I finally left the hospital. I have gained back 3-5 lbs.
I would like to know your opinion. When will I feel myself again, if ever? I was always very healthy, exercised and a non smoker. My son died of Hepatoblastoma at age 2 1/2.
