Hysteroscopy is a procedure in which the surface of the lining of the uterus is inspected. A speculum is placed in the vagina, much like that during a Pap smear. The cervix is grasped to steady the uterus and a small scope, less than 1/4-inch in diameter, is passed into the uterus, and using fiberoptics, displays the surface of the uterus lining. This may be done for many reasons including abnormal uterine bleeding, infertility, or pelvic pain.
A little advise. Take some motrin or tylenol before the procedure.
Hi, I am post- op 3 weeks as of last monday. I was really scared before surgery, I had a abdominal hysterectomy. Please dont worry as they will take great care to make sure you are pain free. you will need to ask for pain killers to take home with you, as that will be the most challenging part.. After the 1st week at home you should start feeling much better. Also make sure you start taking hormones right away, as you will start having hot flashes immediatly.
