I am worying myself sick

I turned 50 last year. I haven't been to the OBGYN in about 3 yrs i used to go every year. I lost my dog in 2013 and from then on i lost interest in anything and let my health go. I was very upset when he died and my periods stopped for several months. in 2014 they came on and off. I used to have issues with very heavy periods and fybroids but normally was always on time. I have had bloating and constipation for the past few years. Everytime i drink something i feel my belly swells up like i am 9 mo. pregnant. I also recently was diagnosed with Hashimotos a Thyroid condition. So i blamed my intense tiredness on the Thyroid issue. I have been growing these stubborn facial hairs on my chin as well. So today i went for a transvaginal ultrasound since my period hasn't been coming since March. I thought great Menopause but my OBGYN said i cant just assume that and ordered the ultrasound. So i had it this afternoon at 1 pm. at 7 pm i get a voicemail from my OBGYN office that i need to call them in morning in regards to my next appointment which isn't until next week. I tried to call back no answer now i am worried myself sick they found "something" when i read about ovarian cancer a lot of my symptoms are there. I am so scared now.  I have been having constipation and lose stools for the past few years and last ultrasound 3 yrs ago they couldn't "find" my right ovary and neither were they able today. My belly always looks like i am 9 mo. pregnant but i also notice its worse when i eat carbs or gluten. Does this sound like Ovarian cancer?

I echo what HVAC said.

Being that you are 50, it is not unusual that you missed some periods. That is very typical in the perimenopause time frame. Also, many women complain of digestive symptoms including bloating likely due to the hormonal changes (although gluten can cause that too in some people). And Hashimoto's may or may not be a contributing factor to both the bloating and menstrual cycle changes.

Let us know what you find out from the doctor. I was over-treated for a benign ovarian cyst (my uterus, ovaries, and tubes were removed) and discovered that this is much more common than I ever could have imagined. Hopefully, whatever is causing your symptoms is nothing serious.

I know you are scared. A woman unless she has a family  history of ovarian cancer or the BRCA mutation only has a 1.4% of ovarian cancer. Benign cysts can cause the same problems. Try not to worry until the doctors are sure. It is common to not be able to see an ovary. Gluten can cause bloating if your body does not tolerate it.
