help-have to go back to work

Today was my last day home.I had my laparscopic surgery a week ago yesterday.Today was the also the 1st time I got in the car  & drove in over a week(Painful!!!---my stomach, where the seatbelt hits etc--ouch!)to run a short errand(ironically to deliver a baby gift). That wore me out for the rest of the day.
My kids will be home on school break (9 yr old BG twins) starting tomorrow.
I have to return to my job(I'm an eye Dr.) for a full day on Sat.(It's also my birthday)That means 8hrs on my feet.
I am dreading all of this--help!

thanks, I'm just trying to hang in there & take it 1 day at a time. The kids are home this week (spring break).Makes resting a bit tough. Occational hot flashes have started but they're not too bad yet ( post opt follow up 4/25). We'll talk support options at my f/u(not a candidate for HRT--have marrkers in my chest from a core needle biopsy 3 yrs ago--benign)
Thanks for the birthday wishes (my 18th weding anniversary is today)

peace & love CB

Hi Chrissie,,
Just really take it easy.  Perhaps if you take some time out to speak to your boss and explain to him that you are not 100 percent!  Maybe you could tell him if he doesn't ease up you will have to take more time off!!
Make sure you really rest up at home too.

and...........Happy Birthday to you.....

Peace and love..Kim

Thanks for all the prayers & support--it really helped me yesterday. It was test in endurance--to say the least(my boss doen't think. I've had other laparoscopies(2)--but nothing this extensive or serious. When I do come in he packs my day.)
My husband drove me to work.--that helped. Then he & the kids brought me flowers & balloons to cheer me up for my birthday.
thinking of all of you today CB

Hey hun....about that seatbelt. I used a small pillow between the belt and my tummy. It helped a lot!!!! Forgot to tell you that in my earlier post. Still, Good Luck.

Hugs, again,

Oh, wow....sounds too soon to me. I went back to work, this week, after SIX weeks off (my incision was from pubic bone up to belly button), and I'm TIRED. I, too, am on my feet for seven to eight hours. Like casey said, talk to your doctor, and see if another week or two off can be gotten. Tell him your job involves all standing on your feet! At the very least, perhaps he can give you some restrictions such as resting every hour and SHORTER days. Make sure, when you do get home from work, that you REST. Get to bed early!!!! I know, easier said than done with the twins, but you're going to have to. I thought I was pretty much done, pain-wise, but being on my feet, like that, has caused some pain to come back.

Happy Birthday!!!! Mine's tomorrow!! Good luck!!!!!!!!

Hugs,
Shari

Any way you can delay the return to work, sounds like you're not ready for a full 8 hours?
I had to take an extra 10 days for my laparotomy (full open verticle) becaise I was in pain and very tired. The times for recovery are estimates and everyone is differnt. See if your doc can do anything to justify another week or as long as you need.

Good luck!
