I will keep your daughter in prayer,as I'm not sure what they will do,especially since she is pregnant. Last year when I was on chemo for my 1st recurrence, there was a girl in the chemo room with a newborn baby..I felt so sad for her..and can only imagine her fears. She seemed to be very upbeat..and healthy. I hope all goes well for you, your family and your daighter~~~Joanne

Thanks for the responses. She is seeing a gyn/onc, and was diagnosed after a biopsy. I'm hoping for the best!
I am sorry to hear of your daughters dx especially since she is pregnant.
As Kerry said, first of all make sure that the specialist in a gyn/onc. In a normal situation, following a dx of cancer, debulking surgery is done. This is a surgery done to remove as much of the cancer as possible. After recovering from surgery, the next step is to have the standard chemo of carboplaitin and taxol. Normally 6 rounds. (One time every 3 weeks) During which time your daughter will be moniterd by ctscans and blood work. A CA125 will be done to see if it is a good indicator for monitering the cancer. (this is done from the blood tests) The chemo does cause hair loss.
As your daughter is pregnant, I do not know what the Drs will decide. Thankfully they have caught it fairly early though and as she is younger, I am sure that she will do well.
Actually, until you see the Dr, there is not much you can do but wait. And that in itself can be very hard. Just try to remain busy both physically and mentally so you do not let the worry take you over.
I wish her the best of luck.
Chris
My daughter also has Ovarian cancer, stage 3 June of 06, a 2 week wait to see an onocologist is not wise. How was she given a staging and a dx without surgery? Take first things first, get the proper tests done immediately, Go from there.
Hi, I am sorry for the DX of Ovarian Cancer. How was she diagnosed? Usually it can only be diagnosed from a biopsy. When you say specialist do you mean a gynacological oncologist? I hope so. Normally surgery is done to remove the cancer whether it is a full hysterectomy including surrounding lymph nodes and fatty tissue, and then a chemotherapy regimine would be devised and started around 3-4 weeks after surgery, but this case will have to be different because of the pregnancy, which I am not sure. Maybe there are others here at the site that no more concerning this. I was DX with OVCA in Dec/07, am now doing well after surgery and treatment. I am back to work and have some lovely curly hair on my head. I know this is devastating to your family, but hang in their. You and your daughter are lucky to have one another and will get through this. Pleas keep us updated. Kerry
