I need help!

Last year I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer. It spread to the lining of my stomach. My stomach swelled up like I was pregnant. They drained 5 liters off of my stomach! It was awful. I had a hysterectomy, took the aggressive chemo and then regular chemo. My CA125 went down to a 6!!!!!!!!!! I had my CT Scan in February and all was clear. Now just a few months later my CA125 is 400 and I have a mass on my side and a few little ones around my stomach wall.  The doctor said he's never seen it come back so fast nor has EVER seen it come back to the place on my side (which is a big mass). He said it may be a blood clot. They are scheduling me for a biopsy this week to see what it is. He said if it's Ovarian Cancer then there is nothing more that they can do for me here which is Baylor in Dallas. That I could go to Houston and do some clinical studies. I'm trying to find some glimmer of hope to hang onto. I wanted to see if anyone knew of anything or knows of any success stories that could be helpful to me! I so desperately want to live, as we all do!

I would suggest a PETCT.  This would help determine whether it is a blood clot or not.  My CT scans have shown masses that are not tumors since a radical secondary surgery I had back in Sept 07.  I had a blood clot on my liver that was mistaken for a tumor.  Hope this helps!

tammi  i don't know what your doctors have done for you but my doctor had my tumor tested for all chemo drugs.  it showed taxol didn't work but taxetere did and cisplatin did.  maybe they need to test your tumor and not shoot fm the dark.  if they won't go immediately to houston where a team a doctors will look at your case.  good luck

MD Anderson in Houston is the leading hospital in the US for reproductive cancers.  I'd take advantage of your proximity to it and go there!  There are clinical trials currently going on, too.
I've heard it said that ovca is considered a chronic disease; it recurs from time to time, it's treated, etc.  There are several different kinds of chemo, there are aromatase inhibitors, etc, to try.  don't give up, dear lady!
Best wishes from all of us.

I would suggest a 2nd opinion immediately.  Yes, OvCa can come back that fast and it can continue to grow even during chemo if the cancer is not responding to chemo.  There are numerous different chemos both single agent and cocktails that are available.  While they might not be able to cure the disease, it can still be very treatable.
Please seek the advice of another GYN/ONC>
Good luck,
Pam
