I'm scared! Cat Scan shows dense mass on ovary. I went thru menopause 10yrs ago

I am over ten years post menopausal and on estrogen as long. Still have hot flashes and night sweats. My ovaries are dried up. My Drs here have not done an internal in the 5 yrs I have lived here. My old Dr did every year. I had pain on left side, nausea, and been experiencing lower back ache. I also have a colostomy. When this pain continued I went to my colostomy surgeon. They did Ct Scan and called checking as to whether they removed my ovaries when I had my hysterectomy when I was 25 years old (I'm 57 now). They did leave my ovaries.I am being seen for an internal ultrasound this week. Also when they pulled my Ct Scan from last year This thing was there only smaller. I am scared and I am not having a very good feeling about any of this. I think my Dr was wrong to not check for these ovaries but I am really concerned about what kind of risk is involved here.
Please can anyone help shed some light on this?

Why did you have a colostomy?  For colon cancer?  Or something else?  You need to have some more dignostic tests,  I think the TVUS will be helpful, and you may need to have exploratory surgery.  If the mass is partially solid or "complex", I feel that you should have a gynocological oncologist present at the surgery in case there is something wrong. Try to remain calm, and wait for concrete results.  (I know, easy to say.)Good luck.

No I did not have colon cancer. Thank God.It never occurred to me that I would even be at risk for possible ovarian cancer.I guess since no one was concerned about checking on them that I would not have any thing to worry about. I am trying to stay calm. All they said was it is dense and needed to be checked further. Thank You for answering.
