Hi everyone, my name is Gina and I was diagnosed with ovarian germ cell tumor, an immature teratoma grade 3 in January 2009. I had surgery to remove the tumor, my left ovary, and falloppian tube. I then had 4 rounds of BEP chemo. A CT scan 1 month ago showed 2 tumors on my bladder. After surgery, the doctor said he took out 3 tumors in my abdominal cavity, 1 of which was cancerous, the same immature teratoma as before. The doctors don't know what to do with me right now since immature teratoma is rare, and to have the cancer persist after BEP chemo is even rarer. I was treated the first time in Philadelphia, and now they want me to go to Sloan Kettering in NYC to find out what type of chemo I should get next. I'm very scared because they don't know what to do yet. Has anyone had a germ cell tumor that required a 2nd line of therapy? If so, what was the treatment and where did you have it done? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Gina
