Yes this is normal for the CA125 test to run higher with an infection, hopefully it will come back down when they get the yeast infection cleared up. With the scan clear that is a good sign also. Good Luck and let us know how you come out.
I had something similar happen. Prior to my surgery to have cyst removed my CA 125 was at 23. After it's removal and the finding of tumor it was at 57...it's also common for it to go up after surgery. My oncol said I also had an abcess and a UTI which he felt raised the number. After my first and all rounds of chemo it stayed at 10. I am sure the infection had something to do with it. It's hard not to worry I know!!
To be honest, much of the time the blood test will spike up before any cancer is actually seen on a CT scan. So, you can have an elevated CA125 with no visible cancer, but the test should be repeated monthly to keep an eye on things. I'm sure that the infection has much to do with the increase - when it's all cleared up, she should have the CA125 repeated. Is it a good marker for her?
