I am not a Dr but have stage IV ov ca. What stage is your mom? Advanced this far, yes chemo is the only way to lower a CA. But surgery helps as well esp the debulking surgery. If she is at an earlier stage, surgery followed by the normal chemo mat be all it takes. So much of it depends on the stage, where and how much it has spread. Then for some, the Ca is just not a real dependable test. For women dx with ov ca and also have a high CA, it is a good indicater for future reference, being that when the CA starts rising then the cancer is active again somewhere. But as I said this is not reliable for all women. This is something that needs to be discussed with her Dr.

No till now there is no surgery.I am readng Hcg titers and blood lactic acid are much more reliable tests than CA 125.People also advise to take Low dose naltrexone. It is low cost, no side effects and non toxic but needs a prescription. Oncologists won't know about it as not their protocol .Patients are seeing great results as explained by http://www.lowdosenaltrexone.org/.LDN can stop the cancer and halts progress and once she is stabilized she can pursue to attack the cancer with non toxic solutions.
With advance stage, you always have to watch the CA125, Have scans and watch for symtoms. Did your mother have surgery?
