Just diagnosed with cancer...thought it was a dermoid cyst

Hello all, I am new to this board. I am 37 year old SAHM to a wonderful but active little 3 year old boy.  I have been having pelvic pain for a year and after alot of ultrasounds and a CT scan they diagnosed me with dermoid cyst and posible endometriosis.  I went in last week to have lapro surgery and woke up 3 hours later with a huge 9 in cut in my stomach and the news that I have ovarian cancer. I am floored.  They did a complete hysterectomy. So no more children for me...which I dont even have time to process yet.  I start chemo on july 6th and get my port put in my chest this upcoming Wed.

This has all been such a surprise and a whirlwind.  The ob that did my surgery said they didnt take any nodes as they all felt/looked ok and they washed my omentum and the wash came back clear for cancer cells. They did say my cancer cells are a very aggressive type. Which scares the heck out of me. We are hopefull they got it all.  I"m just not sure where to go for info and what I should be looking for. Any suggestions, hints or advice would be great.

my sister in law told me about this website thru a friend who is on here named "brettspike".

thanks, Kimberly

Just so you know, you can do this.  You can get through chemo and you can do this.  I did want to tell you that I went to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston and they told me that the aggressive tumors are more responsive to chemotherapy (I have the slower, less agressive type). So, even though that sounds bad, it actually may turn out to be an advantage in you beating this.  Hang in there.  Let us know how you are doing on this journey.

Gosh, what a state you must be in.  I can't even imagine what you must be going thru.  Just know that there are a bunch of extraordinary ladies in here.  Some are just waiting, like me to see if they do have cancer, and the real gems, the ones with OvCa.  They offer advice, support and most of all...friendship.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your little boy.

One more thing.
Be aware of the sites where they want to sell you some miraculous medicine that will heal cancer: Jackie Rockwell is the one to be aware of. I had an encounter with her and found out that she is selling glyconutrients and making money on our cancer patients suffering.Just type her name in Google and many addresses will pop-up look for her name in webaddresses.

cancertutor.com is the best site to see for yourself what can you do for your body.
I studied this site loving it.
I was too diagnosed with ovarian cancer 1C/3grade.Had total hystrectomy.
I am suffering with pain after 7 months and doctors tell me I might have recurrance but I know this are only adhisions that are making me sufffer. MRI was OK..CT scan was OK...so I am hopefull that I am cancer free.
It is a scary thing. My mind races from good to bad thoughts.

Kimberly...
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.  This is definitely on of the toughtest times that you'll face as a family, that's for sure.  First, please heed the orders that your doc has given you regarding recovery from the surgery.  I know that's going to be a challenge with a little one around the house, but it's really important that you give your body the opportunity to get over the surgery.  Like yourself, I was a young woman when I received my diagnosis of ovca...22 to be exact.  My doc was a good man, but was not expecting to find anything surprising.  This was almost 28 years ago, so ovca wasn't being identified as it is today.  Because of the way he approached the surgery, he wasn't prepared to do the debulking that has now become routine, so he thought he was doing me a big favor by doing a bikini cut.

I think if I could recommend anything to you at this time, it would be to find a gynecologist/oncologist.  I wouldn't be worried about switching docs at this time.  Please consider finding someone who can work with you from this point forward.  As I'm sure you'll hear from other cysters on this site, it's very important to have a physician whose job it is to deal with our cancers.  My husband and I made the decision to go to Memorial Sloan Kettering in NYC (we were living in Brooklyn NY at the time) for the second-look surgery.  At that time, the gyn/onc did the procedures that should have been done during the first surgery...including the removal of the omentum.  Since my ca was an early stage, I was very fortunate.  This past spring, I had another scare with the possibility of a recurrence.  We now live in CT, and I had become very comfortable with my local gyn.  Thanks to the advice of the fine women on this site, I was encouraged to seek out the care of the docs down at MSK again.  It was a tough decision, but I opted to have my surgery down there.  Thank God, this one was benign.

I thought long and hard about what I wanted to write to you in this post.  Here it is.  This is a beatable disease.  However, we need to summon the energy and strength to advocate for ourselves.  I know that this is probably very overwhelming for you and your family.  How could it not be?  Please remember that you don't have to accept everything that is said to you by your doc as the be all and end all of decisions.  If you have the means to do so, please consider having a gyn/onc deliver the rest of your care during this time.  I doubt that you'll regret your decision. In the meantime, please keep us posted as to how you're doing.  Ask questions...there are so many women here who have information that will be of great help to you.  Stay strong, take care of yourself!
peace,
Anne

Hello Kimberly and Welcome to the Forum!
Excise the intrusion of the Zeolite, it embarrases the rest of us!  Some of the 1% should be by soon as I have emailed them.  I am a Cyster but as you have guessed, the Battalion coprises both of us.  So sit tight and Kathy O or Dian or Mary53 will be along anytime now!  And worth the wait!  MV

Kimberly, my heart goes out to you and your son and I will continually keep you in my prayers for a speedy and complete recovery.

I am in no way defending Sage if in fact she is promoting something for the sake of a buck in this scenario.  If that's the case, I will pray for her soul too.  But, while I was waiting to find out if I had cancer, I did read a medical site, while checking out what all my blood results meant, that cancer cannot survive in an alkaline body.  I was lead to that site as my alkaline levels were really low.  While Sage's product may or may not be a scam, the alkaline part of it is correct.  I learned how to bring back up my alkaline, simply by eating certain foods.  While I don't remember the vegetables very well, I remember LEMONS bring up the alkaline.  You never saw anyone make so much lemonade before.  I love vegetables, I just don't remember the others, because I felt like I had to jam so much information in all at one time and got stuck on lemons because they are delicious and easily bring the alkaline back up in my body.  (knocks the acid indigestion away too!)  A simple search will bring you to know the other "alkaline foods".  I don't know how accurate that site is, but it was a medical site, it can't hurt and its worth a shot considering you have to drink fluids all day anyway.  Take good care Kimberly.

this cellular zeolite thing is a disreputable selling scam. Beware of false posts giving 'testamonials', & of this 'sage' person who appears to prey on those in a desperate plight. Researching this on the internet will make this evident. this 'sage' person should be ashamed. Look for reputable, properly conducted research & let that be your guide. Don't take my word for it. And certaintly not that of any of the doubtless soon to follow bogus new 'forum members' who will I expect be flaming me shortly.

We are intelligent, rational women here & we know how to do our research & make our decisions. Imoral quackery has no place here.

Hi Kimberly,

Your story is heartwrenching. It's reassuring that you will find many here at the forum to encourage and support you through this. It is so important to be well informed as you face this challenging time.

I have been talking to people about Cellular Zeolite in other parts of this forum, sharing the stories I've heard about remission and reading about good results others are having as well.

I just received another "Good News" email today that I will be posting on my blog, so I can share it with as many people as possible.

If you do a search on this forum for Zeolite, you will be able to read the discussions about this liquid mineral that removes heavy metal toxins and balances the pH in the body. This is extremely important to help the body's immunity fight and kill cancer cells.

Please let me know if you would like more information about this or if you want to read my blog. I want to update it today before I post the address here.

Best regards,

Sage

Kimberly I am so sorry for your news.  I do not yet know if I have ova c so can't even imagine what you must be going through.

We have some wonderful ladies here - and some long term survivors - who will be along shortly and can offer you plenty of help & advice.

the nodes & the wash sound positive, & that they are confident to have got it all out. Have they given you a grade or staging yet?

You must feel overwhelmed. Take a deep breath, stay hopeful, & take care of yourself.
