MASS ON MY LEFT OVARY

Had an Ultrasound done due to pain and this is what they found.
The left ovary is enlarged by a mass with central necrosis.  The cortex is thick.
Right Ovary: (normal) 2.6 x 3.4 x 3.4 cm
Left Ovary: (enlarged) 5.0 x 4.7 x 5.5 cm
Mass: 3.5 x 3.6 x 4.7 cm

What do u think I should do.

Hi There,
it is probably benign but with your mother's history, you should consider having it removed
best wishes

Thank you so much for yr quick response.  I had a CA-125 done and it came back @ 10 which is good.  I also had a CT-Scan done on the 23rd but have not yet gotten my results.  Do u still think I should have it removed.  I thought they don't remove if the is under 5cm.  Is there a possibility that it could also be a dermoid.  I'm scared, my mother is in remission from OVC.

Hi There
You should have surgery to remove the mass. It is not possible to know what it is prior to surgery but it is abnormal.
It could be an infection, endometriosis, a benign tumor, or a malignant tumor.
You should see a gynecologist and ask whether your gynecologist should have you see a gyn oncologist.
Preop blood work should include a CA 125, hcg (beta human chorionic gonadotropin - the pregnancy test), blood count, and liver function tests.

Please let us know what happens
take care
