CA125 and simple cysts on ultrasound

llp
Hi everyone!
I really need some help. I am 35 and have a family history of breast cancer(mom at 49 and grandma at 30). We are going through genetic testing right now and they recommended screening for ovarian cancer. I had a transvaginal u/s that showed simple cysts, the largest being 1.9cm. My CA125 was 18.6 (the range on the test said normal was under 21). I am confused as to why my number was so close to the upper limit. Does that mean anything? I am so scared of getting cancer. I was in the luteal phase of my cycle when I had the blood test which is supposed to be when CA125 is lowest. My doctor wasn't concerned. The only reason I know the number was because I asked. Now I can't stop thinking about it. Help!

First of all the CA125 test is not a tool used to diagnosis Ovarian Cancer it is better used for those that are already diagnosised as a tumor marker.  The test is even less reliable in pre-menopausal women.  You are within the normal range, lower or higher on the scale does not make a difference.

Relax and don't worry!!!!
