Midsummer Front Porch CHAT

Hello ladies,
Often in the winter (you can use that as a metaphor too) we don't see our neighbors as often because it is cold and yucky outside, but when the summer sun begins to shine warmly, the flowers begin to bloom, the grass turns green (can you smell the fresh cut grass and the hum of lawn mowers?) and the days grow longer -- we venture out more and catch up with the neighbors we haven't talked to in a little while.

I think tonight would be an excellent night to venture out on the front porch like they used to back in the day -- enjoy a glass of iced tea with the neighbors -- kick back in the recliners, swings and chairs on the front porch -- to share stories and bs the evening away. :) So our cyber front porch has a beautiful view of the sunset -- I hear the sunset tonight is going to be beautiful, come join us on the front porch and chat !! :)

(How'd that sound, I am sooooooooooooooooo ready for summer!!! Snow can go now, I'm done!)

I'm from Michigan and you are very right.....the snow can goooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to sit on my deck with the sun shining on my face while I drink a morning cup of coffee!!!! Don't think I'll make it over to your porch, tonight, however. I have three days of work and then surgery on Thursday. I think an early to bed is going to be my M.O., tonight. I'm working a lot this week------even starting my surgical prep while I'm still at work on Wednesday.It's amazing what us women do, isn't it?

What a nice idea. Don't know as I can make it or not, but loved reading what you wrote.  I am from Florida and we don't have winter, lol.  Everything is already growing here, we are mowing our grass and if we wanted to, we could swim in our pools! It is crazy.  If I can't come tonight, you all enjoy that front porch and drink a nice cold iced tea for me!

Fran!!!!   You are the bestest of the best.     Just in case some of you don't know, Fran is studying to be a doctor and is learning not only from her books , but from us.  The chat room is a place to give and receive information but mainly it is a place where we learn about each other and compare notes on our lives. I grew up with a big wrap around, front porch.  In a small town , anyone out for a walk was invited up to chat for a while, catch up on the latest gossip and offer  the gift of friendship. The saggy chairs, the "old sofa",  the front steps were often the culmination for a busy day, spent just relaxing and sharing experiences.  My front porch is now called a "deck",  or the chairs around my campfire, while out camping, any place where people can gather and share of themselves with others. Please do feel welcome to join us and let loose some of the loads of the day. Again, thanks Fran for keeping that "porch" available and growing.  Marty
