Dear Donna,

When I had my hysterectomy the incision was horizontal along the pubic bone.
I am heavy too at 105kg and I too told them that if they could suck some of that fat on outta there, that would be fine with me!! Lol.
One of the most important things I think is that you are mobile as quickly as possible. And don't worry they will be right there to help.

It really sounds although you have the best doctors attending you, and they are well aware of the problems you have had with your previous c section.
I know it is an anxious time but really try and stay relaxed, and concentrate on the end result of feeling better and getting stronger.
I'm sending my good vibes to you today from across the sea!!

You know what?  The oncologist was suggesting they go in from above my belly button too.  I think they don't know exactly how they're going to do it, because there's just so much damn space on my belly to choose from, but I am just praying praying praying that it doesn't split and bleed, like my c-section did.  The healing from that was so difficult.

I will do my very best to get up and walk around.  I know how important it is.  But frankly, I'm afraid if I get up, I'll pull something and bleed.  So I'm gonna ask the doctors what they thing would be best and try my best to listen.  I can be so hard headed sometimes!  lol

Thanks for your post, Chris.  Again, your experience, along with the other ladies collective experiences, have helped me to learn, understand, and have so much compassion for you all!  I owe you such a debt, I hope to stay on this forum for a long time to do what I can to lift up and encourage others!

love,
Donna

My surgical scar runs from about 4 inches above my belly button down to my pubic bone and was closed with lots of staples. I don't have any other surgical scars to compare the healing of it with. But I do know that the faster you are able to sit up and move around, the sooner you can usually go home. I had my surgery on Fri morning and they sent me home Sun morning. As soon as I was awake enough and able, i was making myself try to sit up. And Sat afternoon I got up and walked a bit. Painful but i wanted to be at home and not in the hospital. And when they say take it easy for 6 weeks they mean that. Even if you are feeling better. If you start trying to do to much to soon you will know it. I am sure that you will be just fine.
Know that you and Ashley both will be in my thoughts and prayers that all goes well. We will be thinking of you, So when you are able, let us know how things went.
Take care and best wishes on a successful surgery and a speedy recovery
         Love Chris.

Thank you both for thinking of me and your prayers and well wishes.
I know I will be strong through this surgery and am specifically requesting prayers that the doctors hands will be "spot on".  My surgery is a bit difficult because I am so heavy
176K Kim!  The oncologist said there will be three doctors there to help open me and keep me from losing too much blood.  I told them they are welcome to take as much of me out as they want (I'll count it all as weight loss!) and if they'd like to just cut out all the fat as they go, that will be just fine with me.  Because I had a c-section 7 years ago, with hemoraghing, they have ordered blood to be on hand, and are going to be very careful about closing the wound, which, unfortunately, will be vertical from my belly button to my pubic bone.  Sorry for the graphics, but I'm really asking all my lady friends on here for any advice, healing, etc. for this type of wound, and for prayer that the doctors will be wise and careful.  The surgery will last between 6-8 hours, the drs have said.  I am ready, and can't wait to get it over with.

I start on the fasting tomorrow, and the bowel cleansers... AshleyB is having a hysterectomy on Tuesday too, so please remember her in your prayers as well.

Thanks again, for all the wonderful information, advice, and communion of souls I have found on this wonderful forum.

love and peace,
Donna
