Mums story so far

My mum started noticing her lower pelvis was bloating early August. Her periods are regular and thicker than normal. Went to Gp and was referred to have scans and bloods within a week. She had bloods, came back abnormal. Waiting to have scan follow week and my mum felt jolting pain in pelvis and she collapsed. I rang ambulance and she was admitted for 3 days in Qa hospital. She had 2x CA125s one was 100 and second one even higher (wasn't told result) Ct scan showed mass on ovary of 8cm. She also had Ultrasound and xrays. Drs said couldn't rule out cancer. Mum got discharged, had to wait 2 weeks to see gyne to be told they lost her notes. So with no notes gyne told mum "lets hope its endemitriosis" (cant spell). Think they just try and say that to everyone. 2 weeks later she was booked to have an mri and pre op. Still no diagnosis or results from mri. Her op is this Thursday for full hysterectomy and appendix,  nymph glands ect... really hoping and praying its not cancer. There keeping alot feom us atm.  Worried why they wanted an mri as well. They said they may not know if its cancer until removal and pathology. Gynea said may tell her mri results before op (thats worrying). My mums aunties both had breast cancer. She has had borderline cysts in her breasts before that had to be removed by surgeries. I know what will be will be, I cant change fate or heal illnesses as much as we'd all love to abolish Cancer. But its nice to chat to people who have been through similar. Sorrt for the huge essay.

Sorry to hear your mom had to go through this. Hopefully, she will get the pathology results soon and it will show no cancer.

I  will send good thoughts your moms way. I know you are worried it is often harder for a loved one. If you can get a cheap walker that helps when you get out of the hospital getting in and out of bed and off the couch. Here you can find them at second hand stores. Also lose day dresses are good after surgery. This is personal but vaseline or k-y jelly and rubber gloves in the bathroom. Sometimes you get really constipated after surgery and it can save straining. I tell this to all friends who have major surgery.
