It is amazing what one can do when one gets sick. I changed my diet drastically and believe me I feel much better. I don't consume much carbs either , grains I avoid..I am not a  big fun of them...I just eat oatmeal with fresh organic fruits.
I am almost going  back to old days where we ate only organic as kids in  old country, we had no access to fancy food with coloring and preservatives and artificial flavours, because the government would not bring them to the stores saying that these products had too much chemicals in them .Than we thought what a pitty. Now I am saying hurray we were not exposed to all this stuff as kids..Now in old country everything goes.. the Berlin Wall is gone so is the regime. After I came to Canada in the 80's, I was enjoying all kinds of goodies for years and I developped allergies. Lots of years I was struggling with it but when I changed my diet in 2005 everything disappeard.
So I avoid all this believeing that this has helped me to stay healthy to fight cancer.
If I never lived in another country I would not have a comparison and healthy understanding to all this.Even my good friends will head butt with me on this subject.

I know with cranberry juice, you can buy pure cranberry juice in the store - I know here, it's about 8.99 for a glass bottle of it. I believe the dilution is three parts water, one part cran juice...it's bitter, but not too bad. I used to drink a lot of it to help with my kidneys. Maybe you could add a splash of Splenda to it? I didn't mind it the way it was but I know my sister couldn't stand it...
Whether it works or not, I think cran-water is probably a great thing to add to your diet. It's got lot's of antioxidents and it's great for your kidneys and can help prevent kidney infections.
Great article...I hope they're on to something here!
Thanks for sharing,
Becky

Meats, poultry, eggs, fish, and most shellfish contain practically no carbs.  Anything else has carbs which converts to glucose... the best whole grain still converts to sugar.  As a type 1 diabetic since I was 14 years old I know a lot about carbs.. It makes no difference to my body and how much insulin I have to inject whether I eat whole grain pasta or cake...I am not advocating eating sugar only that you can not eliminate glucose or sugar from your diet unless you eat the above mentioned foods.

It's noy fallacy...I said sugar because we do not consume glucose daily but mind you  there is lots of  glucose/fructose/ in  juice drinks anyway. I wanted to say the same you did but I guess I am not  a great writer. LOL. I agree that quiting eating sugar will not cure cancer but  it's very important not to add any extra sugar anyway  . Sugar is in everything. So my pioint on this is: That glucose is a fuel  for cancer  and that's why we should avoid white sugar at all costs. I quit sugar and  processed foods and I don't suffer from any   allergies  I had prior to my dx.Hugs,Sunes.

The fallacy of eating sugar...and cancer

All human metabolism depends on glucose as an energy source. Tumors live on glucose the same as normal body organs and tissue.

The idea that sugar feeds cancer is based on a misconception of how PET scans work because prior to a PET scan they make you quit eating all sugar and carbs so that when they inject you with radioactive glucose in areas where there are tumors or malignant activity happening the tagged glucose immediately lights up on the PET scans. This happens because most tumors have a higher metabolic activity level than normal body organs and tissue. Also, many tumors are highly vascularized so the increased blood supply supplies high levels of glucose to the tumor. It is not because consuming sugar is feeding your tumor.

Will stopping eating sugar cause a tumor to shrink? No, because the tumor always has first dibs on any glucose consumed by the body and therefore you would die of starvation before you reduced your sugar or carb intake enough to make one iota of difference in the tumor's rate of growth. The tumor always eats first.

If you have cancer it probably is not wise to eat a poor diet that is high in white sugar but it is my guess that a diet high in sugar would be unpalatable anyways to most people with a serious cancer. Bottom line - eat a balanced diet of whatever high quality foods will keep you at a normal weight and if that means a piece of chocolate or a bowl of ice cream, then go for it. When dealing with a serious cancer you always have to look at the big picture and not get sidetracked by urban legends.

I am just wondering about this article with cranberry juice.
I know for a fact that glucose feeds cancer so my thinking is:
cranberry (27% only) juice has to have a carrier of a grape juice and sugar water to taste  good.Without sugar is so bitter nobody would drink it. Quoting" Singh and Vorsa found that in the presence of cranberry extract -- which came from a commercially available, 27% juice cranberry drink -- platinum-based chemotherapy was six times more effective against platinum-resistant ovarian cancer cells".

I think that because cancer cells are saturated with sugar  from the juice ...so when the platinum drug enters a cell previously fed with sugar   and cranberry extract  it's sure    most potent and working solution. Wouldn't you think so?

Mty father loved raw cranberries in season and me and my siblings had to have at least a handfull a day to stay healthy. Boy they were bitter but had to eat them no matter what!.
Hugs, Sunes.

Too weird.  For about a month before my dx and continuing now, I have had cravings for cranberry juice which I NEVER had before.

I posted this when it first came out and my onc says it is true.  The only thing they don't know yet is if drinking it is the same as injecting the cancer cell with it.  I certainly hope that is the next study.  I guess that is what they will do with the lab animals, but they would have to give them ovarian cancer to find out. Poor bunnies, but than again, I would rather lose a few mice and rabbits than my friends.  Well, if it works they will be able to cure the animals afterwards won't they?
