scared!

I'm very scared about my symptoms. About a month ago I started having frequent urination with mild abdominal pain that would come and go. Thought after my period it would go away. Well, it did not and now I have a sharp pain (lasting a few seconds) in my ovaries that comes and goes. Shooting pain that goes down the back of my leg periodically as well. So, of course I'm thinking the worst! I've made an appt. with my Gyn on Friday of which I'm more frightened because I haven't had a check-up with him in 5 years. I guess I just got too busy making sure my 4 kids got to all their appt. regularily, and forgot about myself. I 'm 46 years old and could use a listening ear. Thanks.

Sophia

My thoughts are with you.  I wouldn't worry about it until you speak and see the doctor.  I had cysts on my ovaries and they removed them and one tube.  I actually have been feeling similar symptoms again and just got off the phone with my doctor and have an appt on Augt 27.  Good luck to you and i will be thinking of you.  Keep your fingers crossed for me as well.

I had the same symptoms and am around the same age (44).  I ended up having 2 whopper cysts and extensive endo.  Had lap surgery 10 days ago, all is well now.  Please remember that you only have a 1% chance of getting OVCA in your lifetime.  My mother died of it at 52, so my odds are up slightly.  My CA 125 was almost 200 and I had significant fluid in the cul-de-sac, all of which are not good signs, but I ended up fine.  Relax, see your doctor, enjoy the kids.  And listen to nyc lady, she has good advice.  Best of luck!!

Thanks so much for your comments. I was in tears before I read yours because I'm also feeling bloated this evening among the other symptoms. I'll let you know Friday. I just hope I can relax and not think the worst :)

Good for you....you made the appointment....that was probably the hardest part.  You know that the exam really isn't bad or maybe I am justed used to them.  Expect them to do a recto/vaginal exam, gives them a better feel of the ovaries...probably a Transvaginal Sonogram, not at all painful and maybe a CA125 (blood test).

Don't beat yourself up for not going to the doctor...it's not going to change anything.

Like rmarie said, it could be a number of different things, try not to worry until you find out if you have something to worry about.

Take a few deep breaths...think positive....and let us know how it goes at the doctor.

Good luck!!!!

You have taken the correct step and made an appointment, good.  You can probably expect some tests because it can be a number of different things.  Good luck, think positive.
