NEW FORUM - OVARIAN CYSTS STARTING 04/24

Dear Ladies,
Medhelp has contacted me and advsd that they are working on a place where women can go for Ovarian Cysts, with or without Cancer.  They said it will be starting tomorrow (of course, I'll be getting my staples removed at 1), but I plan on giving it a try.

You are all lovely ladies, and it has been my extreme benefit to know you.  I will post tomorrow to let y'all know how the staple removal experience was (nurse said it looked like there was about 50 across my abdomen--YUK)...

I'd like to mention that if anyone get's the good news about being cancer free, but is dealing with cysts, or hysterectomies, whatever, I'll be visiting there.  And I hope you ladies do too, because posting wouldn't be the same without you!

I hope the OVCA forum get's back to basics--Jan, your message was not offensive to me at all (it hurt a bit, to be honest, but it was only because of the friendships I'd forged).  I realized though, that you are spot on.... and have a right to be in a forum specifically for you.  I don't have Ovarian Cysts anymore either, but will be looking for a new home forum.

You might all direct mis-routed posts to the new forum.

God Bless you all, some Star Wars Guy said "Live long and Prosper" but I'm not good at remembering to give credit where credit is due!

love,
Donna

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Thank you, Jan, for your comment and your well wishes for my surgery. There is a learning curve for all of us, newbie or otherwise it seems. Hopefully we have all learned from this, and the forum go back to doing the good it was intended for. I know your intentions were good.
I wish you well on May 1st as well as birthday wishes. I know it won't be an easy day for you. I won't go into it here, but I DO know...

All the best to you and everyone, and no hard feelings,

Joelle

Aha! I just discovered something. I've never clicked on "join" for this forum because at first I didn't know if I belonged (had cancer or not) then later because my ovary was benign. But scanning the "community members" list, there I am. Recently I noticed that if I post some place, it automatically adds that board to my "shortcuts." Looks like it also adds you to the membership of that board. So that explains why we see journal entries and notes, etc. off to the right. If a person posts once, they're part of the group.

Look, I really am sorry that I did not see your other posts.  I am "man" enough to admit I was an a&& about YOUR situation.  There are about 25 people on here that EVERYBODY knows and sometimes new people can jump in and say things that don't sound "right' to us, but from your end it makes perfectly good sense.  I would advise you however, at least until people get to know you to preface stuff like the one ovary question with a quick,  "I posted the details on another post, but..."  That way everyone knows to look to your previous posts for info.  I know it is not your fault and you just asked an innocent enough question, but this is the OvCa forum and we have had people ask tons of questions about having one ovary and frankly it is very painful for a lot of people.  When the emails starting flooding in about your one ovary post, I had to say something cause my friends were upset.  I usually search all new people's names to see if I have missed some background and usually can write back to my friends and tell them to read the other posts they missed, but I did not do that today.  A lot of the people on this forum come to me because I can get things done and I have a big mouth (don't think I don't know that you guys), but I really did let them down by lighting into you without checking to see what your whole story was.  This forum has been through the ringer lately and we are all still a little nervous about new people. When people look to you to lead though, you shouldn't if you are to drugged out or angry to do the right thing. I really do hope things go well in your surgery and that you don't have to join our little 1% club.  We all will be anxious to know how it comes out.  You will be having your surgery on my birthday and the day my onc is going to tell me it is chemo time again.  Not bloody likely unless he is taking it for me!!!!!  I will be thinking good thoughts and hope and pray that you don't have cancer.

As far as that star girl goes, she does not belong to this forum, so she had to come on here and do that journal.  If you go to any other forum, you don't see our stuff, you see their stuff whatever the forum is.  Medhelp does not have it set up where everyone can see your stuff except when you are on the home page and they have even redone that.  If you are signed in you see only the stuff from the forum/forums? you belong to.  I don't know as I only belong to this one so...

Mid, if you look at her profile she does not belong to this forum and so we can't politely ask her to unjoin.

I would hope that everyone remembers that those sub headings at the top are AS THEY RELATE TO OVARIAN CANCER.

I dont know with a Journal if you can set it to only your friends can read it
maybe try that. So only the friends on your friends list can read what you have written.

And Dont unjoin this forum.

Yep, I think that's it.  I'm gonna have to unjoin forums because I don't really think the diabetes people are intested in my hysterectomy?

I'm sorry if I've offended anyone else in any other forum while posting directly to the ladies here.

But having said that, here's the rub, do I unjoin OVCA forum too?  That would make sense, but not to my heart.  And several people have said that I am a positive contribution.  Must be some resolution my darvocet mindframe hasn't thought of...

Maybe if we sent her a note and asked her to unjoin this forum?

as she now knows she has not got to worry about OvCa.

that is why we are getting them all here because they have joined this forum and what ever they write in there journal it shows up in all there forums they belong too.

Yes, whenever you make a change to your profile (as in "feeling),  post a note to someone or comment on a journal entry, it pops up on other forums as well. I belong to the heart forums (of course) and the bird forum too. I haven't checked to see if my notes are mentioned on all forums or just those where I post. Hmmm.

You are right,  She belongs to multiple forums and if you go to those, the same journal entries, moods, etc show up.  That is just not right, and I can't believe MedHelp has set it up this way.  So maybe she made this journal entry in the Pregnancy Forum and it showed up here.  The solution would be to unjoin the Ovarian Cancer Forum, so it would not show up here.

Yeah, I saw that a 23 year old pregnant girl was bored... and it saddened me.
I think, originally, she didn't think she could have children, because of losing an ovary--and that is why she ended up on the forum... but I'm not sure if I'm right on that.

I understand how that kind of posting can be painful, to people who 1)  are not 23 (no offense) 2)  not preggers, or can't get that way, and 3)  have such a good life that boredom is an option.

It would be better if found herself a forum where others can relate, I know some of the people I work with are great at myspace, facebook, that kind of thing...
(course, I'd be throwing the p.c. around just to get THOSE to work for me!)

People with OVCA, and those who are intimate with the situation, have a place to go, and it is right here.  It will get back in focus, with advocates speaking their mind and a general conern and respect for one another.

You know what else I just realized?  Because I am a member of several forums (ok, I think I am, you guys are the the only ones I talk to right now)... when I say "I'm tired" on my profile (under mood) do all the other forums see it too?  Maybe the 23 year pregnant lady was really on another forum, and didn't mean for her info to be carelessly posted where it could hurt ladies?

I don't know, I'm always trying to see positives.  I hope I haven't pissed off anyone in the other forums I've looked at... does anyone out there know if what I said above is true?

Donna

I think the people with addiction problems and no ovca or ovca scare are really on the wrong post. I am on percocet, phenergan, ativan, etc. for cancer pain and chemo effects. If you are trying to be drug free this is certainly not a place to be, because we share meds info with each other on here, trying to find something to help us lead as normal a life as possible.

I think it's great that many of you can move the friendships you've forged over to this new forum.  I hope you'll have better luck and not find out the hard way what we are going through and have tried so hard to explain as you will most likely soon be overrun with the depression, pregnancy, hormone posts as well.  I have never said only those with ovca belong here, but the off-topic posts have become out of control and all we asked was that people consider the topic, OVARIAN CANCER, before they post here.  Give it the test.  Do I really have any reason at this time to think I have ovarian cancer which is still pretty rare?  Have I seen a doctor, had a CT scan, a pelvic, anything that has come out and said, you may have OVARIAN CANCER or did I Google my symptoms and ovarian cancer just happened to come up as one of the hundreds of things it could be.

Well, that is good news.  It is such a big topic it needs it's own forum.  Donna, apparently you really didn't understand what I was saying, because I am certainly not adverse to having people on the forum who are worried about cysts AND the possiblity of cancer.  So many people like Marty and Lori have come on here for different reasons, but they are just as welcome.  It is the ATTITUDE  and the PREGNANT people who have no business on this forum.  For gosh sakes did you see that journal about being bored and pregnant on the OVARIAN CANCER site?  That person does not belong here and she doesn't contribute a thing except to upset people, but maybe that is her purpose here like others have done before her. It is a shame that the people with OvCa no longer have any place to go.

I think that's great to have a forum just for ovarian cysts and such. The women's health forum seems to be focused on being pregnant or not and having strange bumps in secret places. Those are concerns I know but that gray area of ovarian cysts - good or bad - will be helpful. I've been trying to help some of the cyst women over there since their posts get pushed to the bottom pretty quickly. I'm not wild about having a special forum for every little bump, burp and bloat but this will be a big help. Maybe I'm biased because it happened to me. I don't know. Thank you MedHelp for this new spot.

Thanks Donna for letting us know because I have cysts and have been posting on here (everyone has been wonderful) but felt guilty about it w/o knowing whether or not I have OVCA.  This will be a good forum to go to. Good luck tomorrow!!
