What would you do? Cyst first 3-31, 2.4 cm, then 4-21, 6.4 cm

Had Cat scan on 3-31 and they found a "2.4 cm low attenuation focus in the left adnexa which is probably a cyst".  Then I had an MRI on 4-21 that again incidently noted, "There is a cyst immediately above the bladder to the left of midline which presumably arises from the ovary.  This measures6.3x5.1x4.6 cm, and there is a single septation present...There is a very small amount of cul-de-sac fluid present."  I have been having problems since December, losing a bit of weight for no known reason, throwing up, etc.  My primary doctor wants me to go to a gyn. my appointment is not until the 19th and that is with the nurse practicioner.  Any suggestions?  What do the tests mean?  What would you do?  Thanks!

I get these recurrent cyst that I'm told are simple or functional, but they hurt like crazy.  The pain starts a week before my cycle and goes on for about 2 months.  I get a break until my next cycle.  I get lower back pain and leg pain erratically with these cysts.  I can feel them when they rupture and the pain is awful (I'd rather give birth).  Is anyone else having this issue?  I'm thinking about having my right ovary removed since it is the one with the recurrent pain.

I've been to 2 gyn/onc and they both scared me to death.  They are so radical and just want to remove everything w/out even knowing if benign or malignant.  Is that just what they do?  Anyone else have similar experiences?

Great to hear that you have your 2nd scheduled with a "real" dr. lol, saddly though, there are women going to him who have no clue.  Anyway, keep me posted!

i agree with gatsby, (hey gatsby, big red here, second opinion scheduled for the 15th!) you need to go to gyn/onc. primary doc and regular gyn are not the people to handle this. GO TO THE BEST. i too started out with a regular doc, then a gyn/onc. but as i was checking the second doc credentials, i discovered that he was not subspecialist credentialed on oncology. (even though his card said so). get that second opinion by a gyn/onc. they would know the best route you should take. take care

I saw a gyn/onc today, at first he seemed to be trying to talk me out of removing my ovaries.  Toward the end he seemed more open to the idea.  Twice he suggested delaying my surgery, once for a colonoscopy and once for genetic testing.  But I just want it over with.

If your cyst is growing I'd call again, explain the situation and push for a faster appt.  It is still probably benign, but it's more likely to cause pain and other side effect if its growing.

Hey ladies, I would suggest an appt. with a gyn/onc.  Not because of cancer, but they are specialists in the female reproductive area and have seen it all.  You do need to have a transvag us to see what is going on in there.  Remember that 99% of ovarian cysts, tumors, masses are BENIGN.  You are both in my thoughts and prayers.  Godspeed

I'm having similar only worse.  In 1 month went from 9.7 to 15.2 and 10 days after that to 20 cm.  I had MRI & ultrasounds though & primary care wouldn't even look at me but sent me immediately to gyn.  They are recommending total hysterectomy now due to cancer possiblity and other things as well.  Knowing now what I didn't know then, I'd see gyn ASAP and ask about getting MRI or ultrasound ASAP?  I think also it's important if the cyst is solid or cystic or mixed.  What I read originally is that they sometimes go away in 2 months, but that was too long for me.  Maybe if it was entirely cystic it would have.  Mine were mixed solid and cystic.  It's so hard to know if one should wait and then possibly it will be too late.  Or do something immediately when nothing needs to be done.
