Hi,
First, take a deep breath! It could be something completely benign. Ovarian cysts are extremely common. Heavy bleeding can be caused by uterine fibroids, which eventually dissolve during menopause.
Have the laparoscopy done and you'll know what's going on. In the meantime, focus on how wonderful it is that we have such incredible medical procedures that can find all this stuff so early! Keep yourself busy, get lots of info, and keep us informed, OK? Let us know how we can help you.
Hang in there. Best of luck
Kathy
It sounds like your doctor is being very cautious, which is good. I don't know your age, but chances are very good that the spot seen on the ovary is not cancer. When the surgery is done it would be best that a gyne oncologist be on hand to step in if needed. It is a precaution I believe in completely. You will feel much better after your surgery. I wish you the best. Marie
First and foremost...YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.....see a gyn/oncologist. Whether or not it is malignant ( 98 - 99% of all ovarian cysts are benign) this is the person you want to perform yur surgery....this is perhaps the single most important thing you can do ....it doesn't matter how much confidence you have in your gyn.....he is not the one who should be going in to determine what needs removed......he should be delivering babies. Get a referral to a gyn/oncologist...make certain your records are sent so he/she can review them. Once you get that done you will be on the right track. Hang in there and keep us posted...this is a good place to hang your hat while you wait.
Peace.
