Hi there, i'm new and am trying to figure out how this all works. I am getting lots of information reading everyones posts and questions. That's GREAT!!!  Do we just go thru all the questions? or is there some sort of chat area? Hopefully someone can help me navigate my way thru this Website. Thanks! Janet

Welcome Janet.  Your picture is hysterical, love it.  Just so you know, in your profile, you have yourself listed as a male ;)

If you have questions, you can direct them someone individually, or just fire away!!

Glad to see you are doing well.  I was originally a Stage 1A, clear cell.  I am doing well at the moment.  Staying positive!!

Welcome.

Be sure your discussions section is set to sort by "last post."  That way you can see (from the top) what's been added since you were last on the site.  I usually scan down a ways to where things seem familiar and then read "upwards."  That makes the exchanges seem more conversational.

When you go to a profile (click on any of the names in "recent activity" to see a profile) you can send a note, send a private message, or make a friend.  (Notes are posted on the profile page publicly but you will not have a record of it on your profile.)  A private message is sent by the system to the other person's email address and replies will come to your email.  I think you can exchange email addresses, phone numbers, etc. in private messages -- things that are not allowed on the forum because of privacy concerns --  although I haven't had occasion to do that myself.  This is not facebook, and I'm not sure how many people try to make a lot of friends, by the way.

If people join the ovca forum, change their status, post a photo or journal or respond to someone else's photo or journal, that shows up in recent activity, in the righthand column.  Everyone who has an interest in ovca, even if they're not active in the forum, gets their activities listed there -- so you'll see unfamliar names and unrelated topics there routinely.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the righthand column, you'll find "health pages."  There's some interesting stuff there -- and a very sad page listing women who've died of ovca.  It' worth knowing about the health pages as you'll find answers to some "frequently asked questions."

Hope that helps.  And I hope I'm stating things correctly, too.

I'm a 1A who's coming up on ten years since diagnosis.  Glad to know you're doing well, and I'm sure that will continue.  Hope you will post here regularly to get questions answered and offer encouragement to others.
