No Testosterone

After I have been feeling run down for months now they finally checked a few things and it was discovered that I have little or no testosterone (normal range 6-70, mine came back as <3, meaning 0,1, or 2, not measurable). My GP says that's probably why I feel so tired, unmotivated etc. Cortisol was also in the low range, as was estrogen, as expected. They did a vitamin B12 check that came back as excellent. He referred me to an endocrinologist.

Has anyone here had a "zero testosterone" result?

This whole hormone thing is so confusing. I do know that since I've been on the estrogen gel (2 weeks), I feel 100% better. Its amazing that 1mg of gel can change a persons life so much. I think I would benefit from having a tiny bit of testosterone to increase energy levels and sex drive, but am just relieved that I finally can see the path forward, after the total shock of surgical menopause.

Testosterone is made by the ovaries as well as with the help of the adrenal glands. In women without ovaries, all testosterone and estrogen requires the precursor androstenedione; this precursor is synthesized by the adrenal cortex. This is why even post-menopausal women have some estrogen and testosterone. I don't have much of the first one and none of the other.

Excuse my ignorance, but I presumed you had no ovaries due to your OVCA, so therefor wouldn't it be normal to have no testosterone??? I am really interested 'cause I just thought that would be a given. PLEASE someone enlighten me, this is all so confusing..
