No clue what to expect

Hi, i am very greatful for this site, i have googling things and frankly there is just too much information to know what to expect. I went to the hospital in severe pain and found that there was several large cysts. some messuring 4.2cmx5.9 cm the largest 9.7cmx4.2cm all with it was found complex cystic structures both in front and behind the largest cysts on my right ovary. There is also fulid in my falopien tubes.  I really have no idea what to expect from this i have gain a lot of weight i look like im 7 months pregnant. Is weight loss something i should expect? i have an ultrasound this week and then i will know what type of action will be taken to remove or treat these cysts. I would like any advice  or comments you have to offer on what i can expect as an outcome from this.

My search said they could be and infection, or as I said related to ovulation.  Because of your age, it is less likely that it is the bad stuff.  They get concerned as women approach their 40's.  your welcome, and again good luck

Hi, thanks for responding. I am 26 with one child just to give you a few more details. The report i read in my chart says that there is communication between the largestcysts and another lesion i beleive it said ont the right ovary. I am under the care of GYN i follow up with her after my ultrasound. I had an IUD which had caused infection that i had to have treated first then i will have my ultrasound on friday. Cancer is such a scarry word.  Im really curious about just how much weight that i have gained is due to the cysts and how much will be gone after removal.
Thank you, and i look forward to any reply.

A complex cyst needs further investigation, it could be functional, which means it is related to ovualuation or something more.  I would recommend that you see a Gyn/Onc, primarily because they have additional 3 years of dealing with women's health.  And if it is cancer YOU HAVE to have them operating, or available to take over the surgery.  Most often in the pre menopausal woman the cysts are not cancer, however that being said they can be, percentages are in your favor.  They will probably draw a CA 125 blood test at some point, which may or may not be valuable, this is a blood marker for ovarian cancer.  It is not a very good test in the pre menopausal woman, which I assume you are.  I don't know about removal in relation to size.  Small cysts can be removed via a laprascope, 4 small incisions and home ususally in 24 hours.  Large cysts would be a lapratomy, and incision into your abdomen, and a 2 to 3 day hospitalization, depending upon what they find.
Good luck, keep us posted.
