Ovairan cancer symptoms

Does anyone out there know if the nausea and unable to eat signs of stage IV ovarian cncer.  I have an apppointment on Thursday with gyn/ob for symptoms that I am 99.9% sure is ovarian cancer.  I just started this week being nauseated and hard to chew and eat food.  I am hungry but the thought of trying to eat makes me sick to my stomach.  I am a very nervous person and am praying to God that it is nerves the reason I feel like this, but deep down I just feel it is the later stage of IV.  I am 51 years old with no cancer in my family.  I had a ablation 2 years ago for heavy peiords.  I was offered a hysterecomty then and didnt do it-really feel now that culd have been stage 1 or 2 of this awful disease.  Thanks

I appreciate your sharing your post with me.  I am praying that your outcome is not serious.  I know how hard it is not to worry, but God is with you and I have tried to turn my conrerns and worrys over to him and ask him to be with me through al lth test and upcoming news.  I have my next appt on Thursday to get the results from the ultrasound.  I pray for you to get strong and stay strong and fight back.  I pary that you stay strong with the doctors and demand something be done NOW.  If possible maybe you should contact a gyn-onocolgist with your family history and all the symptoms.  Stay stron and remember GOD will always be there when you feel alone he is there to carry you through you low times.

God Bless You

I've been sick for 14 months and having symptoms, but without medical insurance I wasn't getting the right tests I guess.  The last 2-3 months the symptoms have been horrible.  I have every symptom of ovarian cancer I can find.  My doctor took lots of blood and she gave me a papsmear and they found a mass just under 3 cm on my left ovary and fluid in my abdomen.  My docs nurse gave me a message about the mass, after 9 days of trying to get my doctor to talk to me and answer some questions about what this mass is or could be, I finally got a new doctor.  The old doctor had ordered a pelvic MRI and they scheduled it for 6 weeks away.  I'm in so much pain I can't even stand longer than 5-10 mins and I can't even wear jeans.  I've been bed ridden practically for 6 mos tired and in pain.  My medical ins authorized me to go to a different hospital for the MRI and I had it done at 7 am last Friday.  I was told by several people the results will be sent to my doctor probably Monday or Tuesday, they faxed the results to my old doc (because she ordered the MRI) in 5 hours.  That tells me they probably found something.  Monday at noon I called my doctors nurse and asked for the results and she didn't know they were back yet, she said she'd find them and call me back.  It's Tuesday morning now and no call yet, my old doctor has had the results since last Friday at 1:30 pm.  My new doctor says she will not call me with bad results.  I have an appointment with her on Thursday.

The pain I'm having is pelvic pain, swollen and tender pelvic and lower abdomen area, my thighs feel like someone is twisting them and the ache horrible, low back pain...dull all the time now, sharp and severe when standing longer than 5 mins, abnormal periods with lots of clotting, constipation or irregular, and exhausted for over a year now...to name a few symptoms.  Also everyone on my mother's side of the family had died from cancer.  I'm 38 yrs old and done having children.  I'm on 13 medications a day to treat the symptoms.  I'm still told this is probably just a cyst and not to worry and apparently the doctors aren't.  So now I sit here and wait and wonder.  My doctor has been treating me for high blood pressure, depression and anxiety too....so the waiting has been horrible and I don't see how she can make me wait, my old doc scheduled the MRI for 6 weeks out and as routine, I'm supposed to wonder and stay in bed for 6 weeks.  Anyways, I just thought it might help to know you're not alone out there.  I keep going back and forth saying to myself the doctor doesn't think it's a big deal so why should I and then I keep remembering this could be cancer and if it is I'm sure it has spread after 14 months of symptoms, you usually don't get symptoms until it spreads. I'm trying to prepare myself for the worst, but keep thinking it's nothing too.  It's hard they found the mass on my ovary on March 1st and today's the 17th and I still don't know if I have cancer or not :(  I wish you luck on your road ahead....

Thank you for your support and comfort.  I am scared as would be anyone going through these changes.  I appreciate everyone and what is posted, I have anothre appt Thursday 3/18 for the results of the transvaginal ultrasoud.  The tech told me she didn't see anything that looked like a tumor.  She did find a white spot on my uterus that she thourght was a fibroid or polyp.  She told me not to worry they may do a biopsy but these are usualy not malignant.  but I have read that is not always true.  The symptom that I have for about 4 weeks is a tringe in the pelvic area onthe right side.  I have not had any pain just a tringe like someithing is in there.  My bowel movements have chaged from 1-2 a week to daily, soft but not liquid.  I just have myself so worked up that my bp was 138/100 and it is usually normal.  I think about eating and I don't want to eat-I have been nasueated sometimes.  I am scared because I have underactive thyroid and weight loss is very hard for me.  I have lost 6 pounds in the last 2 weeks.  I am just relying on my faith in God and the prayers I am receiving that is is not anything or if they do find anything it is beign.  I will keep you posted.

Thanks again

I agree with Sarah.

Now.  Don't start talking yourself into the other symptoms she listed.  They are ALL symptoms of other, less serious problems you might be having.

It's okay, though, to ask the doctor to prove to you that you don't have ovarian cancer.   It's hard to diagnose early, when it's curable, so do share your fears with the doctor.

I wouldn't diagnose yourself with Stage IV ovarian cancer quite yet. Nausea and fullness are only two of the symptoms you should watch for. Others include frequent urination, bowel changes, pelvic or abdominal pain, bloating, unexplained weight gain or loss, and fatigue. It's good that you have an appointment with your OB/Gyn to discuss these symptoms; have him/her give you a CA-125 blood test to check your antigen levels and request a transvaginal ultrasound.

If you tend to be an anxious person, nausea and unexplained pain could easily be symptoms of stress. Ovarian cancer is serious but rare, and you should NOT get yourself freaked out about it until you have more to go on than just a few symptoms. That said, you're taking the right steps.

Keep us posted on what your doctor discovers,

Sarah
